FF Youtubers are always wrong

these youtuber are just your everyday people like us who play games, work and have more or less same daily routine like us. they are not private eye who go into SE building and asking for interview, or work in SE FF14 development and then leaking it out, etc

what make you think they are correct in every way? they just speculating, guessing, predicting, they dont have valid proof about whatever they say, it just a guess.

blizzard leak often correct because many things, one the staff over there sometime doing it purpose (to hype up) and sometimes they indeed have loose lips, also loyalty to work company is not one of the basis in the western, in jp stuff like this is kept secret like tight lip secret, the staff knew this and they actually indeed keeping it secret, why? maybe because they actually dedicated to their company? who knows, but i see this attitude more often on jp games development (at least on big company), again could be different custom/tradition thing, on western people might just shrug it off when they leave/fired from their company, but maybe for JP thats like a disgrace or something? again, who knows.

and lets not forget, wow has many things outside the game, the hearthstone, the novel, the comic, stuff like this can be used to "narrow" down the prediction to more "accurate" guess. FF14 however has none of that, just artbook and soundtrack.

also if these youtuber let say... actually really going a bit extreme on their info digging like actually went to the company and asking for interview or actually hire a private eye, or maybe "bribing" one of the key staff to leak stuff, etc, you must remember one thing. blizzard is in NA and most of these EN speaking youtuber also in NA so they have easier access to do so (if they want to go that way)

meanwhile FF14 main development is in JP, and most EN speaking FF14 youtuber are probably in NA or EU, no way they going to JP just to sniff around to dig info then return to their home and even more impossible now due to covid.

just see other youtuber who focus JP games like smash bros, persona, etc, their prediction also mostly wrong too

Man youtuber are not journalist, but they have opinion like a consumer of the product. We don't need be professional of marketing to influence a friend buy something that we bought first. I like a product, tell a friend "hey this is good, you should have it".
And more: the new generation don't use tv anymore to get informed, they use YouTube and like websites to know more of what's they use/like. Traditional journalism in a few years will be like a librarian, it will get old! Just like in past years, there were jobs that today, it wouldn't make sense, for example: wake up services, yes my friend in old era there was a human to wake you up earlier, so you wouldn't get late in your job!.
Doesnt matter what a company have to offer, it matters what my friend think about that company product. If he loves it ill have it too.

Honestly don’t really care if their predictions are or aren’t correct. They are fans just like us, and like us they’re just geeking out over speculation. In the end that’s all it is.

Why I DO like and watch their channels are for the quick digest of the live letter or upcoming things that I could just read myself, but it’s easy to listen while I focus on eating lunch or whatever.

Others I appreciate that they can get the mount or glamour or whatever and show me what it looks like in game.

Their speculation stuff is a really small part of what they do. It’s not their job to get it right, just to share in the hype or excitement.


Finally, if you feel the community “deserves” something “better”, you are welcome to create the content. I will happily give your channel a shot.

I've met Zepla and Mrhappy at Fanfests, both are good folks, make good content, and more importantly they have a knack of introducing players to harder content who would not otherwise dip their toes into. I wouldn't put much stock in them being 'wrong', everyone is entitled to guess what they believe will be the winner.

But alas YoshiP is good at holding things to the chest, probably helps they tightened up things since Stormblood.

It is called speculation and guesswork OP, none of the youtubers ever said that square will definately add the jobs they were GUESSING they would add.They just made guesses based on what they thought would be hints and even in their videos they say that this is all guesswork and speculation, none proclaimed themselves as ffxiv prophet who's uncle works at squeenix.

Then don't watch them, they're the product and you're the consumer. If you don't like what they're putting out then stop giving them clicks that's literally all there is to it. You want someone's channel to die because they got speculation wrong?

Oh I’ve stopped watching. And yes I’m sure it’s not a personal problem, you’re projecting things onto my words, you assume I’m thinking a certain way but nothing I have says indicates that this is anything more than justified criticism I have.

My point is simply on the whole they are mostly wrong, they are bad at what they do for a living and they are incredibly fortunate to continue doing it. My boss would fire me if I got most of my work wrong.

How can they doing "mostly wrong" and how can they be "bad at what they do for living", when their goal is entertainment and when there are obviously a lot of people who are entertained by their content?

There's not a lot of content or stuff to make content on in this game, let alone mmos.

Nobody wants to watch <personality> grind bozja or blue mage for 8 hours.

This is why you pretty much, get the creating their own content, guessing stuff, hyping things up - making over the top reactions to the trailers.

And I can't blame them, clicks pay the bills.

A lot of the time these content creators are right about their predictions. But this is mainly because of their knowledge and experience of the game (which has a very predictable development cycle), their experience of the development team (who are quite open with us) and their experience playing other FF games (upon which, many features and story plots are inspired to some degree).

There usually are not any significant clues from data mining like in WoW because Square Enix knows people do this and is careful not to put anything there in advance that would spoil everything. Most of the time any spoilers are deliberately provided (in trailers or as hints in the story itself).

They were wrong on this occasion because most of what the community really wanted already got added to the game (except beastmaster, but we don't believe that will be a full job), so it was less predictable this time.

I would say on the whole there are not really any of their videos that I can disagree with what they say. They understand the game and they try to have a fair and balanced view that considers players interested in all aspects of the game (unlike a lot of regular players whose opinion only considers their own interests).

They are human and not perfect though, so you can watch them or not watch them. It's whatever. It's just content for when you're bored.
