Friends List wrong

Hello,

Before Merge I had several entries in my /flist.
After merge, ALL the names were gone except 1 (who belonged to someone I did not recognize).

I verified that a lot of people who WERE in my /flist were still in my world with me and had the same name.


I then added in a bunch of people.

Today, I logged back into Balmung (Limsa Lominsa) and noticed that my /flist had changed. Most of the people I added AFTER the merge were gone, but now lots of people I had BEFORE the merge were back!

I am confused, is this intentional?

Thank you for posting your concern over the players in your friends list disappearing upon doing the world merge. Though this would be more of a Technical Issue. So in order to get this issue resolved for you as quickly as possible we will go ahead and move this thread over to the Technical Support section of the forum. Also for the issue you may want to provide the following information so they can best resolve this for you.

Steps:
1. Before World Merge -- have a nice friends list, no problem.
2. After World Merge -- Friends list empty but one name.
3. Several days after world merge -- Friends list still empty except that one name. I then start to re-add from memory
4. 20/04/2012 -- Friends list now contains a list of friends... All is good (but previous ones are still gone)
5. 21/04/2012 -- Friends list now contains the friends I had BEFORE world Merge.. and all the new ones I added are gone.
6. 22/04/2012 -- Friends list still contains pre-merge friends names, and none of the post-merge additions I made.

I am hoping that this was supposed to happen (I would rather the loss was expected then it to be unexpected).

If there is a way to recover my friends list, that would be good. If there is a way to back-up that would also be good.

Is the Friends List information stored locally or on the server?
