Maybe, but why spend time grinding them if the RNGesus is against you when you can spend 10-20 minutes and get one guaranteed from an old raid? I think it's more of an illusion of choice. Admittedly, an illusion of choice grinds my gears more than a complete lack of options. I like to just have things given to me straight, not this "well, you can do this BUT..." crap. I'll take a soul crushing grind over that any day of the week. Regardless, if I really pushed myself I could probably have this current relic done by next reset at my own pace, but it's clearly meant to be done casually. I'm not gonna drive myself completely nuts over it. A few runs of VA and Rabanastre a day is plenty.
I dropped 1 every 10 fate, its the same as Atma farming. Plus its a one time only quest. I think the grind being either CT/Castrum and PotD/DR makes it more bearable.
