    I've done both ARR and HW Relic Pre and Post-Nerf. 6 months for the 12 ATMA items... I didn't mind too much, because I was AT LEAST making progress at my own time.

    This, however, is locked behind a content with a RARE Fate and needs a boat load of people to do it and sometimes you don't even get enough and have to leave the instance and try again. Wasting so much time and effort to get past the "required" step and you have to do two Story Raids here.

    Sorry, I rather take Pre-Nerf ARR and HW over ShB's current Relic steps. This is godawful game design and not fun. At least the post Relic are tied to the more casual and active dungeons and raids accessed to everyone without behind gated from a closed-off open space zone.

    Not to go telling tales out of school, but I gather the distinct feeling there was a divide in the dev team about what to do with the relic system. I think they hired on Matsuno to continue his story from Return to Ivalice, but while one part of the team made up Bozja Southern Front and its content another part or someone higher up decided to put relic steps in old world content to boost the population for the new influx of players Shadowbringers brought in. If Bozja and the previous expansion content doled out the same amount of rewards for the same amount of effort I would think it was just to give people more options, but the fact that most players feel funneled into the old content to reliably earn materials needed to upgrade the relics makes believe it was a deliberate decision to boost the population of old content.

    And I wouldn't be upset if they just wanted to do that, like having a story about building a relic based on your own memories of the experiences you've been through in the previous expansions as a way to get that content populated. However, this comes the expense of hobbling Matsuno's story and the work the developers put into the Bozja Southern Front, to the point many people were shocked to find out you have to continue the Save the Queen storyline and raids at all to continue working on a relic they've only known as something you go back to Heavensward content to complete.

    well but we got another 2 jobs with this patch, so i dont think they should aply same mentality of grind each expansion not including, how many jobs are there

    Outside of savage prog/reclears, there's nothing better to do right now really. So I'll take it one step at a time. But I agree tho that drop rates in Bozja are a bit ridiculous compared to the super easy and quickly farmable ST. I don't understand SE really, they do everything in their power to push people away from their fresh and new content. It's a weird design choice.

    Then make it 100 memories of nightmare... just dont make the RNG so crappy... this way SOME people have to work their butt off while other really lucky people still get it within a week.

    This is not in any way "hard" to get. Hard and not easily gotten implies difficulty. All this takes is mindless grinding for a few hours while watching netflix. I would love for them to make another weapon that is actually hard to get instead of tediously grinding something I barely have to pay attn to.

    But I agree with the OP, if they want to keep us tediously grinding in Bozja to allow ppl who perhaps did not do the content in the first 3 weeks to get the wins and not just queueing for syrcus tower repeatedly, they need to improve drop rates. I was in there for 2 hours last night and didn't get a single drop, meaning syrcus tower it is.

    I wouldn't say it's harder by any means...just time consuming. Which I'm guessing was the point. I think we are currently at HW levels of grind, which wasn't hard either, but took a fair amount of time.

    I have a term for that -- it's called a sub sink.

    And here's the dumbest part about it: If past expansions are any indication, that only will get you into the mid and upper 80's.

    To me, if you really want to justify the difficulty, you almost should make this a combination (and a far stronger one than the "small advantage" you got in HW) with 6.x.

    I don't see the difficulty. Lv50-60 Alliance raids, PotD, StB Fates are all extremely easy.

    I'm all for interesting grinds. Eureka at least handled that well in that the zones had some danger and form of progression, it just had other issues that they gradually ironed out by Hydatos. Spam 51 old Alliance raids is just a bland uninspired chore for the sake of grind.

    The logic behind the relic grind has gone a bit wonky too, with the first 3 stages being practically free hand-outs into a sudden long grind this patch, instead of evenly spacing it out. They also went from having an alternate path, which for some reason was more efficient than playing the current expansion content, into suddenly changing their mind and cutting off the alternate path by requiring Bozja progress, then from there adding a step that's done entirely outside of Bozja in old content.

    Finally it's worth noting we got no new Bozja zone. Eureka had 4 unique zones and a raid, while Bozja has 1 small zone and 2 raids. As nice as the raids are, overall it's a cut in new content and instead we're just getting old alliance raids as filler. Honestly, I'd much prefer Eureka right now.
