Never getting a shadowbringer relic now

So my time is somewhat limited. I cannot get into Castrum Lacus in a party that can clear it. And now it is MANDATORY if I want to finish my relic. Surely Square knows this place is going to die eventually. Why would they make it mandatory if peoples playtime means they won't ever be able to do to? I've always viewed relics as casual content but now I have to go into Bozja wait up to 90 minutes if I just missed it, and pray to the gods that the group I'm with can clear it and not be full of trolls just looking to make people cry by failing it on purpose.

I understand where your coming from as well. I was also under the impression that this relic chain could be done multiple ways without having to complete Bozja. But I guess that was just for the 1st chain.

I have to agree, it's really puzzling that the relic would be open-ended for the first two steps, during which at no point was Castrum required, and then all of a sudden a very much less populated area becomes mandatory. I get that the idea may have been to revitalize Bozja the whole way through but players who knew what they were doing in Castrum have long since stopped caring about it, and will all be in Delebrum now. This would be less of a problem if we, the players who chose to do the relics elsewhere, didn't already have one or several completed and want to get cracking on the new ones, at our own pace, in our own way, which was precisely what was promised when Bozja was first announced. While it's fine to say well eventually you'll prog your way through it, that still misses the fundamental problem of that isn't what the ShB relics were supposed to be like in the first place, and we believed you about that.

Edit: And having now tried to start the Doh/Dol relics I'm convinced either a new team came in or someone has been having a bad time at work, because there's NO reason the previous bits should have been so player friendly if the final step is not much different from trying to get top 12 ranking in Ishgard restoration. This is absurd.

You do have to wonder, though -- if the point of that makeup was to leave the casuals with some form of a relic weapon, and then anything beyond Tier II (60 dungeons) requires elite.

I made the mistake of actually trying to enjoy Bozjan front when it released and used it to level an alt to 80 thinking I could get Castrum Lacus Litore done later on my main. Well apparently not because it's pretty much impossible to complete now. Even getting the minimum 24 people to even start it is still difficult. I've failed over 10 attempts trying to get it done on my main now, with other countless hours wasted even just waiting around for the timer to come up an hope enough people queue.

I get what they were trying to do with making it some epic time gated encounter, which it sort of succeeded in for the first week maybe. But now it's fallen completely flat on its face. I don't have hours upon hours to sit in Bozjan front waiting for the queue and hoping that not only enough people queue, but that the group is competent and capable enough to even clear the instance. It's worse than a chore, it's a massive waste of time and completely unenjoyable being stuck unable to clear the content. There are so many ways it could be tweaked to actually be fun, or in the least less of a pain to get done.

Now they have made it required out of nowhere and its annoying because I sank time into fate farming, because I tried Bozja and did not enjoy it. Now I have to do it because in the Patch Notes for 5.45 says Fit for a Queen is required, which requires the completion of Castrum Lacus Litore. I'm just aggravated that I sank time into something to avoid something I didn't like and now I'm forced to do something they said I wouldn't have to do.

The only way I can protest their tying these things to instanced zones with short shelf lives is to just not do them. They obviously are not paying attention to EU and NA feedback. Or they are intentionally pretending to misunderstand it. See now they can point at this and go "But you can get the drops outside, that's what you wanted, right!?" which completely misses the point. They won't add this zone and let it stand on its own two feet. They have to falsely prop up the popularity by putting a highly desired item in there. And then they put in steps to completely turn off the part of the player base that item is supposed to be aimed at.

A funny theory my friend mentioned was that they made the alternative method to accompany the new Free Trial version.

You are kinda exaggerating here. You can do these relics final step leisurely at your own pace, taking a break from it whenever you want. Nothing like being in an obligation to get physically and mentally tired competing countless hours 10 days straight against numerous other players, which was the big problem of trying to be into the Ishgard's reconstruction top 12.

The highly coveted item IS what makes a zone stand on it's own two feet. If there's nothing of value to be gained, people will definitely move onto other things as soon as they've finished it and the content will be extra dead. I'm sure they'll come up with a way to make bozja still doable even after 6.0 comes out. People are still making Eureka weapons just fine. It's true that Eureka didn't have anything like castrum, but I'm sure they'll do something to make it doable when population drops off.
