DPS looking to join a raiding FC

I am a new player about to get my first class to 80.

I have been playing Bard so far and really enjoy it as I normally play archers.

I would like to join a raiding FC in the future what other classes should I work on to fit that bard dps role in a group?

Well even if english is not my native language, i don´t get what you actually want.

If you want an FC, there are a lot shouting in the ingame chat. Otherwise you can check the forums here, reddit or the blogposts at the ff14 lodestone. You could even just whisper someone ingame or scroll through the FC window, join one, check if it´s a good one or leave.
Same for statics, but statics are not always together on the same server or in the same FC. An easier way is to check the partyfinder ingame, a lot of statics recruit a missed class there. You could even open a post like "Bard / phys. range is looking for a static. I´m pretty new to this, but confident in what i´m doing."

If you want to improve as bard, which is highly needed for endgame-raids, you should check out the balance discord: https://discord.gg/thebalanceffxiv
There are guides for equipment and early rotations and any mentor could help you out if you´ve any questions.

Now i don´t get what you mean with "other classes i should work on". I mean, just improve with bard first if you really enjoy it? Otherwise machinist and dancer are physical range too. Machinist is a more "selfish class" when it comes to damage meanwhile bard and dancer support the group and gain a lot of dps with their raid-buffs. Overall they´re all pretty even in damage while bard depends more on the whole raid damage and dancer on the dancebuddy.

((If you want to know your dps, there is a tool called ACT which is not officially allowed. Otherwise you can do dps checks in Kholusia. There is an NPC near the entrance to eulmore which will port you to an island with a dummy. Just choose a raidboss there and then you´ve 3 minutes time to finish the fight. If you can´t do this within the time, you´re not ready for this fight.))

Honestly the more of other classes you play, the better you'll generally understand yours. As a ranged physical DPS, you have abilities that can provide defensive boosts to people and knowing when to use those is rather helpful. Sometimes a big spooky AoE really isn't so bad (like ones before a long period of the boss doing nothing), but that's the sort of thing you'll mostly understand if you've played a healer.

That being said, it may also be worth giving a shot to the other ranged physical jobs. Most raid groups will bring at most one of them, so you wouldn't necessarily be the "bard" slot as much as the "ranged physical" slot, and with shared gear you'll feel less vulnerable to the buff/nerf cycle if it turns out, say, Machinist gets stupid strong or something.

If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.

You can pretty much just jump in with BRD for endgame content. You don't really have to level other jobs for crossclass skills anymore.
In this game, Raiding FCs are honestly pretty rare. Most people just join an FC as a social thing.

Players join "static" groups for raiding. These are pretty much just 8 peeps in a discord server that may or may not be on different servers or different FCs.
Some folks require logs for you to join in, some just literally takes anybody. There's really no standard application process.

Now, it's pretty simple to find a static.

You can do it via Discord server: https://discord.gg/mMVbkZx
You can advertise or apply via Party Finder.
Or you can literally just run around and make friends and ask them if they wanna raid Savage with you.

But honestly, if I were you, I'd jump into pugs for Party Finder. Get some XP in the fights, maybe someone will get your logs, make friends with the pugs yada yada yada.
It's a lot harder than being with a static, but it's honestly the best first step into raiding imho.

You got to make a presence of yourself with your logs, push it higher if you want higher tier groups to consider you. Balance server (Discord) can help with you this since it's a school for max output jobs and rotations.

Right now Dancer is the best ranged in the game and Bard is only strong for progging raids if you want to be technically serious about job performance. Casual, Midcore, Semi-Hardcore groups don't really care for this so I wouldn't worry much. If you want to play Physical Ranged DPS level the other 2, being a 1 trick is never a good idea because of job balancing, 1 job will get the "lol treatment" every xpac.

It's gonna be a struggle to get your position out there, but don't give up. 14 is kind with dedication to playing the job better and better.
