I find these samples great, but darned if I want a sountrack to download and keep for my own.
    Fair enough,

I agreed with you on many points and I probably will warm up to the soundtrack eventually. However, I don't think it's "I don't see why SE has to change their style", but more that this new BGM (spanning all of XIV) IS them changing their style. Well, I guess I'll see what's what when 2.0 launches. As long as the BGM fits the areas well, I'll be happy

I just realized: They made much PR with the fact that Uematsu was making the music for FFXIV. Now they totally re-release the game. Will there still be the Uematsu-Music? Or will it be totally replaced? What leads me to the question: Is it really necessary to change THAT aspect of the game?? Sure there will be totally new maps and the game will have a different look, so the music has to be adapted. But changing a successful part of the game, by using different composers is a risk in my opinion, and not neccessary either.

Different composer? I don't think it's a good idea either. Same BGM? Also, not a good idea. The new areas should be matched with music that fits them perfectly, a fitting BGM has a large impact on players even if they don't realize it.

Maybe they will add some new tracks. But I think they will use the old ones for some zones as well. I hope they will.

What's with XIV's BGM (both old and new)? Too many XIV tracks sound horribly tacky... I know the composer works hard on these tracks but please drop the electric guitar and the MIDI brass and pick up an orchestra.
Funny thing about this is music scores in WoW and Skyrim sound horribly tacky in comparison because it tries to be overly dramatic when it doesn't need to be. XIV's music is far superior.

Agreed, XIV has a superior soundtrack hands down. I'm just not sure if it gives me the FF feel as much as XI's soundtrack did.

It doesn't, but they did bring Naoshi Mizuta back onto the team, so there's a good chance he can recapture what he did with XI.
