Apparently everything is solved with the "It can't be done currently" and people will just simply buy it. I wish I could solve every problem like that too.
Can we have more dungeons? "It can't be done currently, but you can have fewer dungeons for more content" Spoiler: We got less content
Can we have better customization? "It can't be done currently"
Can we improve Eureka? "It can't be done currently, but you can get downgraded Eureka and removed Deep Dungeons"
Can we have more finished races? "It can't be done currently"
Can we remove genderlock? "It can't be done currently"
Can we improve the housing system? "It can't be done currently"
Can we have glamour fixed? "It can't be done currently"
Can we have more inventory/armory space? "It can't be done currently"
Can we have more events? "It can't be done currently, but you can have the usual ones cancelled"
Can we have less MogStation? "It can't be done currently, but you can have more expensive items"
However, you can have Mahjong and glasses done by our workers in their free time.

At this rate what are we supposed to have in our minds as average expectations? The security we can pay a sub? Is really expecting any of those madness?
Seriously, I'm not trying to sounds as a hater, because I love this game, but just because of that I would like it to be improved and I see certain aspects have been going downhill for a while now and people just seem perfectly fine with it because "current limitations." Player counts have gone from 6 millions to over 22 millions according to the numbers they show in their trailers and limitations just seem to get harsher. So, raise you standards and don't settle for whatever they throw at you. These are the guys who developed ARR behind the scenes while putting an end to 1.0

and yet some people wonder why this expansion is nicknamed budgetbringers.

i refuse to lower my hopes, but my expectations are getting thin.

I expect the standard stuff. They'll flaunt sub numbers, tease us about the story, etc. Though I think they won't delay with revealing a job; or two, and will generally just have more of the normal stuff we've come to expect from a keynote on show since there's only two events this time.

Also... Seeing a lot of comments about how this is "budgetbringers" or that content is being lost and nothing put in its place, and I feel like people are just drastically undervaluing the things we have gotten this expansion.

Content is being lost, make no mistake about that, but the resources aren't lost (which is what matters) and are being repurposed for things that simply take more time and effort as a whole.

The budget isn't lower, lets just get that language out of out vocabularies as its painfully inaccurate when you look at the expansion as a whole—I was listing everything "new" we've gotten, content or otherwise and exceeded 6,000 characters here listing it all out compared to what has truly be lost. Further, purportedly this budget is the highest the game has had so far, it's just being funneled into things that take too long to actually get out each patch, that aren't readily apparent to us while playing daily, or that we do once, think "wow that was cool" then forget it exists (G Warrior or the Bozja solo instance to name just a couple....)

Shadowbringers has added a lot of casual and roleplay things while ignoring battle content, but to say any of the resources freed up were lost is just foolish.
This is coming from someone who is bored as hell with what we have gotten, hates exploratory content like Eureka and Bozja, and would prefer it to be axed altogether in favor of more engaging, repeatable things.

I'd show this post to the dev team if I could. Not that they would care I suppose.

They haven’t cared for the past 4-5 years from what I’ve seen.

The thing with half your examples is that they spun them as positives.

"We're doing less dungeons per patch but it's because we're working on an exciting new content format. It'll be great! You'll love it!"

"Hrothgar and Viera won't have hats but they'll have their own unique customisations we couldn't achieve otherwise. You'll love it!"

Unlock gear restrictions? "Nah, it'd be confusing. You'd hate it. It's good how it is."

Removing the genderlock (ie. building another two character models that do not currently exist)... "We are sorry. We might not ever be able to add more character models to the game. We want to be clear that it might never happen."

It's that definite, apologetic tone that tells me this isn't something to keep pursuing or believing that it'll come if you just keep asking hard enough so they don't forget about it. I don't think they would talk about never being able to more races to the game if that wasn't a genuine problem that they face. Doubly so when they say they made the decision to split the races specifically as a "last chance to squeeze in two things that the players wanted".
