    Leveling progression rate ... again

Even after all these years the time it takes to level alternate jobs is a grind so bad. I am again at the point of cancelling my sub, like so many times before. FATE's do not give enough XP, quests should be buffed to provide more XP so they are relevant, we have all these quests, so much content just sitting there and virtually no XP for doing them, there is no incentive to do them, the only MMO I have played where simple questing is not an option for leveling progression(beyond the MSQ)... our only real choice is to sit in an instance queue which limits the amount we can get done, I spend more time sitting waiting for instance queues and trying to complete FATE's in the hope that the dungeon will not pop mid-FATE, causing me to get nothing for my FATE progression ... and the sheer repetition of such a narrow amount of content is mind warping ... There are many other MMO's that provide a reasonable level of gratification and some that I don't need to pay for ... this game needs some type of level scaling technology to compete going forward, Like ESO and WoW ... I'll keep an eye on the patch notes in the hopes that this is fixed in the future

Have you tried levelling with your squadron?
    How about deep dungeons?
I assume you're trying to level a DPS?

Beast tribes give a lot of exp(especially the later ones). Trusts dont require you to wait for a que. Bozja gives a lot of exp. The challenge log is full of exp bonuses. Khloe is giving half a level of exp per book completed.

It's subjective, sure, but for me it's almost too fast. I find it weird to be max lvl within a few days if I grind. But then again I'm more of a way than destination kinda cat daddy.

Daily Roulettes. Deep dungeons. I hear leves are good I think. Food check. Join a FC with EXP buffs.
That MSQ daily exp go burr.
There's more, I just can't think of all the ways to gain exp because it's been a while since I've needed to tbh.
But there's way more options than fates and queues as a dps.

I agree with Dr. Who up there. This game tosses exp at you that folks be like 10+ leveles ahead their quests most of the time because of that. It in fact encourages you to switch jobs really to stay "at level" with your MSQ.

Thanks to everyone that has replied positively, and no thanks to the individual with a problem ...

    61-70
    -----
    - Daily Roulettes
    - Stormblood Daily Hunt's and do any overlapping FATE's in the area
    - Stormblood Beast tribe quests
    - The weekly challenge Logs which reset on Tuesday.
    - Queue manually for the highest available Stormblood dungeon.
    - Heaven on High.

    * MSQ is not an option, I leveled that on my main job and it requires lvl 80 to progress, making the xp gains from the MSQ a waste, or am I mistaken?
    * Leve's don't apply in this level range
    * Squadron's don't apply in this level range, though I can confirm I leveled my squadron to max and got all my alternate jobs to 60 using the squadron system, this was good I never had to sit waiting for 20 minutes on a DPS job to actually progress in a queue.

XP gains are only really good for the daily roulettes and HoH repetitions when it comes down to comparing the rewrads across all this content. I could sit here today and count all the XP out for all these activities and list them and you would see that the FATE's, beast tribe + hunt's have minimal XP gains and 2/3 are limited as dailies. You have a burst of XP at the start of the day then you are left with having to wait in dungeon queues, sometimes for 15+ minutes just to play the game in a productive or accomplishing way, especially as DPS, and if you happen to be playing outside of prime(low population) time frames, you can forget it, no quest leveling option whatsoever, you may as well just log out or sit in queue for 90 minutes.

Let's just look at HoH as 1 example, to get 1 alternate job from 61-70 it takes 63 runs of HoH to get these 9 levels(how long do you think it takes to do 1 run of HoH?), there are 17 alternate jobs after getting your main job leveled, that's a total of 1071 runs of the same dungeon, the key word here is SAME(crazy repetition + burnout). This goes back to my original point around the fact that there are so many quests in the game, yet the XP provided for these quests is non-existent, the content is there, yet it is not being balanced out and utilized. In other MMO's I can quest to level at my pace, but not in FFXIV. It takes an hour or so to do your roulette's and then you have to wait in a queueing system til tomorrow, same with beast tribes + hunts, this is not player freedom, no other MMO gates standard/normal class leveling in this way, not WoW, not SWToR, not ESO, not TERA, I can go on ...

I'd be perfectly happy if they took the amount of XP gains you get for a deep dungeon down and buffed the amount of XP you get from doing side quests, FATE's and others to give players a balanced progression rate across the entire expanse of game content, instead of this "funnel" where the best XP gains force you to do a totally limited type of activity, all they have to do is play with the numbers. This is not a new concept, if other MMO's can balance the numbers between quests, and instances out, there is no reason SE can't. It would also mean I could actually get stuff done at a better pace in times where no one is online and queueing in this dungeon system, bang for my buck ...

This MMO, and specifically because this MMO works in a way where you can do it all on 1 character, should logically have a level scaling system incorporated into it. Take the ESO example, I can go anywhere in ESO as, say, level 20, all quests are level 20 XP appropriate regardless of the quests I do, I get a level appropriate XP gain for a quest, a sense of progression, no stifling of player freedom, WoW introduced this recently too. If you actually believe that you are getting appropriate XP from these activities by MMO standards, my advice to you is to get out of FFXIV a bit more and you'll begin to understand that this is probably the slowest XP gain per hour MMO of all the modern day MMO's, with repetition as it's mind melting companion ...

Have I left anything out? what else I can do between the levels of 61-70 if I have not listed it above already?

    Thanks

idk instead of wasting time try to find optimal way to gain EXP, just do whatever give you EXP. FATE in Stormblood area have Bonus system (I know it's still not enough) also the game already give you +50% bonus from Armoury Bonus, +10-15% from FC/Squadron Manual buff, 3% from food.

Also, finishing Wondrous Tails give you tons of EXP. You can use your 80 to unsync and complete it then have your sub turn in the book.

If you finished your daily and feel bored of grinding FATE+ Dungeon at your LV, may be back to do your 80's stuff or it's time to call it a day.

btw Shadowsbringer have lv scaling system for sidequests, it would be nice if they applied it to older expansion's quest yeah but priority.

This game does indeed vomit EXP onto you for every little thing. The grind isn't effortless, but compared to the grind of FFXI jobs pre-Abyssea phew. Lol. It's like walking into a gift shop and being given a free T-shirt vs. handcrafting your own.

I think the OPs point was not the lack of xp, but that outside of dungeon treadmill and roulettes, most content give too little xp. Pixies being an notable exception. FATEs and subquests (who are a one-and-done deal) give a meager 1-2%, though to be fair the former can be combined with the weekly Challenge Log. They could theoretically increase quadruple subquest xp and it would have no effect on any roulette or dungeon treadmill due to its one-and-done deal, especially if you level all jobs on one character.
