I'm a self-proclaimed Fantasia addict who buys quite a lot off the Online Shop (but I still only play female characters). There are a lot of gender-locked outfits on the Online Shop that I would buy right now if they would refit the meshes for all body types. I also know a LOT of people who laid down $36 the day the Collegiate set was put up on the shop (instead of just $18 if the outfits had been gender-locked like the Errant's Attire).

So, you can claim that having the gender-lock restrictions won't impede sales much. I say they do. Without lifting gender-lock restrictions and comparing sales figures, neither of us will know who is right.
Do you by any chance see the contradiction in your post when you say things like, "Well, they missed out on a sale from me and several of my friends, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
and then follow up with, "I'm a self-proclaimed Fantasia addict who buys quite a lot off the Online Shop"?

You can't put a dent in the revenue the cash shop receives if you actively buy from the cash shop. That's what I'm talking about when I say their restrictions won't impede their sales. Net vs gross gains don't apply here, because the money the cash shop receives is all gross revenue. It's like if I was selling fruit, and one customer refuses to buy my apples; but it doesn't matter because my apples will still sell, AND this customer STILL buys other produce from my wares. If you really want to deny the cash shop your disposable income, your friends might need to initiate an intervention for your fantasia addiction. They may not get your 18 dollars from a glamour restricted item, but they know how to get it in other ways.

I'm going to point something else out as well...

You know it takes extra time and effort but, "It's 2021"? Seriously, what does that even mean? Mentioning what year it is to make a point sounds like, "YOLO!", or some other comment structured in hedonism and naivety. If we could encompass all the events of 2020 and the beginning of this year with just one word, "Restrictions" would be a damn good choice, so what year exactly is it for you?

Cash shop employees have deadlines as well. They most certainly can't be afforded time as a luxury when developing new items, and that is a big reason why many cash shop items have restrictions, and why many items cannot be dyed. It saves them a load of time they are already short on.

Well, considering that certain playable races have unique traits such as horns and tails...there's a lot of potential for some interesting race locked gear that takes advantage of that. It sure would be nice to have some glamour that allows my character's tail to breathe and not just clip awkwardly through the metal/fabric. It's also not at all unusual for other fantasy games - both single and multi-player - to take advantage of the differences between playable races and embrace glamour options that are locked to the player's chosen race.

You know, other games with tailed, horned, and/or hoofed characters give little details on armor for those races. The tail armor from GW2 and hoof/paw armor from WoW come to mind.

Glamour is already restricted enough, and I have no desire for another round of "heritage" armor.

Agreed 100%: I'm not a big lover of the mogstation, but there are quite a few things on there that would be instant-buys...if only my character could equip them. The gloves that come with the new female-only set would definitely be worth the money, and I'd do anything to be able to wear the Nezha Lady's set. I also know quite a few people with female characters who have been pining after certain male-only sets for years, so this definitely cuts both ways, and that's sad.

5.4 fixed several previously genderlocked glamours with zero fanfare, so I'm cautiously optimistic that future patches will continue to do the same, and if 5.5 does the same I'll finally be able to truly believe they're serious about this, and not just throwing players a bone again to get us to shut up about genderlocking for a while. I do have some doubts that mogstation items, at least the ones that technically belong to the companies that run the KR and CN versions of the game, will end up having the generlocks removed, but I would love so very, very much to be proven wrong about this.

<_< As far as asking for 'more racial gear'...Yes please, give us some traditional gear for the different races/clans, but instead of race-locking it, lock it behind a questline using the same system as our current beast tribes that expands the lore of that race/clan combination. At Rank 2 the vendor will sell you all-race versions of that race's starter gear, at some middle rank, all-race versions of that race's hempen set, and max rank could be a new unique set of 'traditional' gear for members of that race. This way everyone gets cool new gear and we can finally get some concrete lore for certain clans that are starving for it. (My vote would be to start with either Keeper Miqo'te or Duskwight Elezen, but I'd take anything gladly).

Oh jeez, I can't handle gender restrictions being unlocked! *gasp*... now female toons... would be able to wear pants? and male toons... dresses? *gag*, it's never been done before! In real life, women wear dresses and men wear pants! It's always been that way, bring back manly men, blah blah blah. /s

For real though - gender restrictions are LITERALLY meaningless and arbitrary when IRL we can wear whatever we want with the only restriction being whether or not it's too small to fit. I'm a transmasc dude. I wear dresses all the time IRL. Doesn't make me less of a man, doesn't RuIn aNyOnEs ImMeRsSiOn. OP has the right of it, let men wear dresses, let women wear pants. Removing gender restrictions harms NO ONE.

You're playing a high techno-fantasy game set in a fictional universe where catpeople and furry tony-the-tigers exist, and you're worried about men wearing dresses and women wearing pants?

IRL, defined gender roles have been skewed; not destroyed. If you think wearing a dress as a male does not make you less of a man, you have a skewed PoV as to what defines one. If you are confused or in opposition to that, I invite you to look up the word "masculinity". The best case scenario for a man wearing a dress thinking it doesn't make him less of a man is, "It doesn't help." because you will immediately be associated with femininity. Dresses, kind of have that effect. Just ask anyone who dreamed of being a Disney princess as a child if they were wanting to be a man.

Anywho, your post was at least entertaining. I mean in one clause you use real life as a reason to not have restrictions, yet in the next clause you use real life to remind people they are playing a video game. It's been some time since I've seen such a dismissive post and attitude, and that's saying something.

People pay real money to play this game, dude. Money that most of us have to work for. At jobs that during these days we are damn fortunate to have. The people who design this game and the gear also have real lives. They have families, bills, and other obligations and adult responsibilities. A lot of what they would like to do is sacrificed so players like you can come here and bemoan because some of the thoughts within the thread don't match your own.

If you want to use reality as a basis for your arguments, then at least try to be real.

The grammar is shocking, but it seems like you are espousing "Any man who wears a dress isn't masculine". Is that what you are saying?
