My forum quote aside (though I stand by my extreme annoyance at pants turning into underwear or miniskirts for real in-game gear), what really irks me is chest gear. Just going through the Mogstation: let me use the Snow coat, or the coat from the Far Eastern Officer's set, or the top from the Far Eastern Garb for Men, or from the Lord's Suikan Set.

Let me have the vest from the last Valentione event, instead of the dress. Etc.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

I won't lie I wept seeing the cryptlurker set for aiming. An actual cuffed jacket? No needless ribbons and bows?? Be still my heart I finally have it at last.

gender lock is pointless imho. its like gating certain colours and i don't get why people would be against having more options.

You'll find most aren't against it in general (though some are) but more against the cost, everything takes time and resources, personally I'd be totally fine with this, but if it cost less new glamor? That's where I'd rather they didn't if that was the case.
There's also the argument of they'd likely just make one design going forwards, you wouldn't get pants that turn into skirts or skirts that turn into pants, you'd get a skirt or pair of pants and just have to hope it's the version you want while the others are out of luck.

I'd personally prefer more thought out glamours, worked on with both bodies in mind, but with more space in between releasing them. And I'm not against these glamours being mogstation-only items. I'd gladly pay $36 for both versions of items if I could *wear* both versions, and I'd gladly wait as well. Though I understand that I *personally* am in the minority when it comes to that amount of patience.

I just don't understand the "morally righteous" people who claim that it's a perversion and emasculating/defeminizing. Like...

it's a wip but this is metal as heck. i'd pay for a fantasia if i could wear all the mog station dresses as a hrothgar.

Hm, technically the design cost is less... While you having to re-outfit to the new unlocked gender, you don't have to come up with things prior to that like concept art, textures, 3D meshes... Which might be more time consuming. In the end, XIV doesn't have that much of available races, so the overall cost might be less.

Also it's always a gamble... The new glam maybe wouldn't suit your tastes, which personally to me is most of the cases.

Just saying. I play lots of games with unisex gear that swings from high femme to very masculine, with so many threads in between. People just wear what they want, and never seen a lack of either option.

Gender locked gear is very old school gaming from a purely design standpoint. Why would you spend more to give less and catch a smaller net of people who enjoy an asset? They really are rendering 6 different glove models instead of 3 with refitting.

My entire main is Bloodborne so the fact it looks beat up and messy was a huge selling point. Really want more gear with this kind of texture.

From my perspective as a female lala as well as a person who enjoys all things girly, I prefer if they just keep certain outfits genderlocked. I hate that there are so many cute hairstyles/outfits that are gender neutral because when I wear them, I don’t want people to wonder if my lala is a boy or girl. I want it to be pretty damn obvious that she’s a girl.

I don’t like this mentality that everything has to always be available for both genders. I’d like some things to be kept sacred. (Even though they already ruined that with the Bonding outfits.) But of course, I’m all for adding more gender neutral attire for people who prefer that. I’m just saying, I’d also prefer if there were some outfits just for guys and some outfits that are just for girls. Call me “old fashioned,” but that’s just how I feel.

I've posted my chagrin about the gender-locked FFXIII gear and hair. I think Snow and Lightning both have great looks that would be tasteful and stylish on both genders!
