I'm now confused about the thread calling for more button reduction..
actually sometimes you people here confuse me. You want one thing and then you don't want that thing. x_x;;
There's button reduction by making abilities interact in fun and complex ways, and then there is automation. The pvp combo buttons are automation, which is what op is asking for.
this is the best answer honestly why it doesn't work in PvE. Better than the ones sayings its lazy in other threads when someone asked why or suggested."when you're never gonna break combo anyway"
I've had to break my combo early in TEA so I could use Goring Blade on Brute Justice as soon as he spawned, saving me 2 GCDs and allowing me to go immediately into my spell rotation to hit BJ and CC then reapply Goring Blade before using Passage of Arms on the 9th-12th J Waves.
but honestly you want one button combos you can setup a macro in the game. in facto you can almost do a complete rotation with the macro system on certain jobs.

For anyone that thinks one button combos are anything but boring try playing a healer in most content. Wear out my 1 key while waiting to reapply my 2 key, with the occasional 5 key every 45 seconds. Oh and trash pulls? Forget 2~3 presses every other job gets I just press the 4 key to holy and 3 if blood lily is up. And white mage has more of the fun dps buttons compared to the other healers.
Making it an option would be fine.
I used to really like pvp in ARR and HW and the changes they made in SB and SHB completely killed it for me. I think if they did that for pve I would lose the will to play anymore.What about a button that just completes my whole rotation, too? PVP is already not as engaging because of this combo button nonsense. It's also rather insulting that they force us to use it.
I've never had a problem using my buttons, and if the issue (and it is) that pressing 1 - 2 - 3 is mindless, then what we should be asking is why is game design bad?
There we go.
I'd love to free up 2 of my easier access keybinds for other things, so I'd definitely combine these simple combos into 1 button. Then the people who want to pretend that pressing 1-2-3 is super deep and engaging are free to continue wasting their keybind real estate doing it that way.
Saying Physick in particular wouldn't be missed if it was upgraded into Adlo isn't the same as wanting the level of pruning that happened to the PVP skills. Frankly I'd be just as happy if they made Physick actually useful but that's not going to happen, because ever since they killed Scholar's Pet AI the skill has been absolutely useless since we can not longer macro it to Embrace.
I could have grown to accept it if they didn't neuter the CC utility of classes in PVP on top of the skill reduction. That double whammy is what killed it for me.

Conceptually I think it could work, as long as oGCDs or non rotation attacks don't force a reset of the 1-2-3 button. Nothing more annoying than having to voke or ranged attack a stray mob as a tank and losing your combo - happens all the damn time from DPS or healers who think they're being cute because they ran ahead of me. Guess what, now I can't do my Stalwart Soul after my Unleash because your impatient butt cause a mob to go 10 feet in the wrong direction and I had to Unmend it. Thanks....
