What is the deal with queue times lately?

Ever since Sunday, queuing up for basically anything that is not a roulette or Nier raids has been giving me a "less than five minutes" upon queuing up and then tapering up to "more than 30 minutes"

It has been doing this every single day—sometimes more than once in a day. Moltres Pokémon had to wait 27 minutes the other day to get into Satasha. 27 minutes is quite unusual for the first dungeon that everybody has unlocked. It was not a weird time of day. 4:45 PM.

I understand that the wait time is rarely accurate, but it seems highly unorthodox for it to say less than five minutes and then taper up to more than 30 minutes this frequently.

My wife is having the same problem as well. She is now doing Stormblood raids and optional trials and she was told less than five minutes but now is saying "more than 30 minutes". That is with being queued for four different things at the same time. She elapsed time is now at 50 minutes. 10 times the original estimate.


As I said, this started on Sunday. Before that, if the wait time was wrong, it was maybe ≈10 minutes off at the most. Now it is a half an hour to hours off.

What time are you guys queuing for the duties?

If she's on DPS and you've got a tank or healer, you could queue with her on a tank or healer and reduce queue times.

What are you guys queuing for exactly as some things are better suited for the party finder than the duty finder?

My best guess would be that the system might not be taking into account your current role when showing the estimated wait time. Maybe it's averaging instant pops for Tanks and Healers, but there's a long list of DPS who are waiting making the average of all players somewhere around the 5-minute mark.

can someone maybe explain to me how he dungeon queues even work?
It was a bit late yesterday but i wanted to do Copied factory, after 30 minutes it finaly started but somone declined (or was afk) then it didn't pop up again and the party was almost empty. shouldnt it just will up with one more person and pop again?
does it not keep people in line but replaces everyone randomly all over?
when i had 3/3 tanks, 6/6 healer & 15/15 dps, and then only 7/15 dps this is really strange, what happened to the rest when only one person declined?

So if you que as a group and one of your team declines, it kicks the entire group out of the que. Sometimes those people dont reque(so they just gone from que), sometimes they re-group and que. If their regrouping allows the matchmaking system to immediately form a group then that happens, often with some of the people from the previous group now left out. Theres certainly a lot more to it then that though.
