A "significant amount" of information doesn't mean the information will be everything that people have wanted to hear. It just means there will be lots of it.

They have a new expansion to hype up and that is inherently big. Anyone convincing themselves (or others) that this must involve that thing they've been asking for ages is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Expect a trailer and expansion into. Be pleasantly surprised by anything beyond that.

Oh no, I'm not expecting that kind of thing. It'll be the standard fare, of course, potentially some news on their tests with cross-datacenter capability; its been a while since we've heard about that, but I'm only speaking of the amount of information, rather than what it might be. I think you are drastically misreading my tone here, I'm not really convinced of anything more than what we usually get, but since there's only two events I expect to get more of the normal information in each than we've naturally come to expect between the typical three events.

I feel perhaps I was misrepresenting my own thoughts there, but I'm really just talking about the "amount" of information, as we already know what to expect in a general sense.
His wording just implies that we'll get more than we'd usually do with just a single fanfest keynote—that's all I'm taking from it.

Everything else usually gets revealed during the media tour (which probably doesn't exist this time), in-between interviews or is detailed on the dev blog before release. I expect it to really be no different than before, just that the info from all three fanfests is being reorganized into two events, rather than three.

any chances it will have expansion/job details since by now we should have had at least 1 fan fest and are behind on details only 1 patch left for the expansion and we have had no details on 6.0 at all.

Outside of the game, I would like them to announce Encyclopedia Eorzea III, because if the first two were sold like hotcakes, there would be a great interest for a volume covering the best expansion so far in FFXIV. SE can take my money for a new volume.

Personally i have no 'high expectations' otherwise it will turn out like Shadowbringers and the lack of missing genders[and thats only one example out of the many i can think of] as such im hyping myself up only for the story and new classes, ill accept whatever it is as long as one of the new ones is a caster ehe.

I know Yoshi P talked about having high expectations but its better to have them tuned down.

When I saw the title of the event "Announcement Showcase" I thought it was just that. A place where they would announce some announcements.

What I thought at the time:


-Announce the fanfest in may, where the majority of the expansion features would be showcased
-Announce the title of the expansion, and some form of trailer
-Announce the game is coming to XBOX
-Announce the PS5 version of the game, and any graphical improvements that would come with it.


I feel very strongly that the game is coming to XBOX. Both teams were in talks for some time, and the barrier was that XBOX Live was required as an extra subscription to play the game.
Now, Micrsosoft has removed that roadblock. XBOX Live is no longer required to play free to play games, which would allow FFXIV to be on XBOX. It would be amazing and bring a lot of new players to the game.


Also, Yoshi-p said in an interview around Shadowbringers release, that they didn't update the game graphically with SHB because they did some graphical updates with Stormblood, and the sooner we would see another graphical update would be with 6.0. Now 6.0 will come when the Playstation 5 is out, and they are yet to release a version of the game for that console. It makes perfect sense in my mind.


Now that Yoshi-p came out and told us to have high expectations and that they will reveal a lot of information, I expect more info on the features of the expansion to be revealed. Not the most info, that would come on the digital fanfest.
I think they will:


-Talk about the theme of the expansion, and where we are going.
-Tease or reveal 1 job (out of 2)

-Update us on the new races (this is wishful thinking, but I really want them to talk about male viera or female hrothgar, or at least talk about expanded character creation)


This is not even dreaming too big, it's just what I realistically expect.

If it's anything like the Shadowbringers announcement, it'll be a lot of "NEW JOBS COMING" "NEW RACE COMING" and very little of substance. We'll get a date of when information of substance will be shown, though.

Even if Yoshi-P has told us to have high expectations I think Imma keep them low and expect nothing so I don't get dissapointed. Also considering there's a livestream on March, I assume the expac has a decent chance of getting released July-September?

Prettymuch. The devs just seem oblivious to how high (a certain subset of) fans set their expectations and how angry they get when those expectations aren't met. Either that or they've just given up because they react badly to everything.

In any case there's a long history of the devs promising something big and exciting, and fans being sure it'll be the specific big exciting thing they've been wanting for ages, and then being disappointed when it isn't. And the reaction just overshadows the excitement of whatever we actually are getting.
