I could be wrong but i think the expansion stuff will be quite small and fast and don’t expect too much more than a reveal trailer.
I think they’ll go into 5.5 and show off the nier raid and new Bozja personally.

They will most likely do that on top of the Showcase.
People forget that they planned multiple things for that day - announcement showcase, 14 hour stream and Live Letter. Only the 14 hour stream was cancelled, which means we still have a live letter on top of the announcements. And that means announcements for new stuff and live letter for 5.5 stuff.
EDIT: Well, strange timing between my post and the Lodestone announcement.

Live Letter 5.5 Part 1 4,5 hours after the announcement showcase. Yeah, they really will show new stuff in the showcase only.

I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.

Random bump, but in the Gamerescape interview posted today Yoshida said that the Showcase is for a major announcement and will reveal a "significant amount of information." Encouraging us to have high expectations.
While further stating they have one more information event planned in May in the form of a digital fanfest. We can take this to mean that the showcase is going to likely be everything we would have seen from the cancelled fanfests thus far; hence it's length.
Anyone thinking its just the name, trailer and a CGI opening is probably underestimating what they have planned, especially those who think 5.5 will be involved with the 5.5 reveal live letter being 4.5 hours after the showcase—there's no point in showcasing 5.5 at all before then.Gamer Escape: In February you’ll be hosting the Final Fantasy XIV Showcase, and of course we’re expecting something special. Given that Fan Fest was not able to happen, should we expect something similar to that in terms of announcements? Might we see three Fan Fests worth of new information, or might we see things a bit more spread out? Additionally, how many shirts can we expect you to wear?
Naoki Yoshida: Shirts!! Come to think of it, I don’t think I wore very many T-shirts this year…
The Announcement Showcase is meant to be a platform for a large announcement, so feel free to have high expectations. Although we will be revealing a significant amount of information at the Announcement Showcase, we do have a digital Fan Festival planned in May, where we’ll have even more information to announce.
In any case, I didn’t realize my T-shirts were a topic of discussion for players. Guess I should start thinking about my wardrobe early… (laughs)
I'm expecting pretty much Fanfest 1 and 2 since about this time if Tom clancey's The Division didn't happen last year we'll have had both fanfest already and waiting on the last one. So that means if they go by that cycle we should get the full CGI movie for the next opening, both job reveals, and everything we get normall get within those fanfests. New mounts, emotes, expac details, nextgen stuff maybe like PS5 support and many other things that comes along with these things.
Even just that much (plus some degree of unpacking what was shown in it) would be a pretty major announcement. Add in a new job reveal or two and - assuming there are no new character races/models being added - that seems like prettymuch everything we'd expect to know about the expansion this far ahead.Anyone thinking its just the name, trailer and a CGI opening is probably underestimating what they have planned, especially those who think 5.5 will be involved with the 5.5 reveal live letter being 4.5 hours after the showcase—there's no point in showcasing 5.5 at all before then.
Does anyone have a list of what we knew about Shadowbringers in advance, and when? There was the trailer in pieces, two jobs, two races revealed separately, the NieR crossover and probably Eden. Blue mage was announced somewhere in that space as well even though it wasn't technically part of the expansion.
I think it is safe to assume that our usual 3 keynotes will be covered via the February and May events. (the 3 fanfests are usually within 4 or 5 months)I'm expecting pretty much Fanfest 1 and 2 since about this time if Tom clancey's The Division didn't happen last year we'll have had both fanfest already and waiting on the last one. I expect half of the trailer, with the second half coming in May, after 5.5 release; probably a job reveal, and eventually a raid name, some brand new features, and PS5 support, and most importantly, a release window.
It would be, yes, but in that case there'd be no need for him to say its a significant amount when it would typically be what we'd expect from a fanfest. More or less, I believe he's just telling us they're going to make up for cancelling the fanfests in an information blowout.
Also in terms of information going in 5.0, we had none before the fanfests.
First Fanfest:
-Shadowbringers reveal
-first part of the trailer, only includes up to Thancred
-consolidation of MP and TP
-multiple new jobs
-teased a single new race
-ishgard restoration
-trusts teased
-new game plus
-Nu Mou (I think were revealed here?)
-world visit + world restructuring
-Blue Mage
Second Fanfest:
-extended trailer, shows Urianger and Yshtola (it excluded Eulmore and Crystarium)
-release date
-GNB
-Rak'tika and Il Mheg
-announced extensive battle system changes
-removal of TP
-nine dungeons
-raid but didn't name it
-Ishgard Restoration
-Trusts revealed
-YoRha
-Pixies
-Titania
-Finished with Viera
-collectors edition
Third Fanfest:
-full trailer, revealed the First
-Dancer
-Crystarium, Eulmore, Lakeland
-teaser images for Hominster, Dohn Mehg and The Ravel
-Eden
-Gaia + Nomura collab
-Dwarves
-Hrothgar
-Sin Eaters
-Innocence
It should be noted the trailer was split into three parts, not two like most claim, and Eden was meant to be revealed in the second Fan fest, but they couldn't do so due to the assets not being available.
I had to scrounge up articles to figure out the order, but some others contradicted one another so it may not be completely accurate.

you're a great person for collating this info
given 1 and 2 were cancelled, this means we can safely guarentee the event will have the following
trailer, or at least part of it+release date
battle system changes< this is where the stat squish will be if there is one
new job(s) tease with a small bit on current jobs OR reveal of new job(s)
update for older content (2.1-2.55 condense likely)
character creation updates in some form, either missing gender of viera, or hrothgar or both
reveal of duties
reveal of most zones
at least 1 beast tribe
collectors edition
key npcs from new expansion
While we would have had 2 Fanfests by now, don't expect this showcase to include 2 Fanfests worth of information reveals.
They're running 2 months behind, so this is more or less roughly in the cycle where they would have just had one Fanfest.
The May event is likely to be the bigger one, with more information to reveal.
So for this one I'd expect only one job reveal, a small section of the trailer (depends on how it's done but might not be as much as "half" of the trailer), some broad battle system changes, maybe a new limited job, a few notable characters or duties from the expansion, Ishgard Housing is very likely too given how the restoration has just concluded, but likely planned for 6.x
