what's everyone think will be announced?

any chances it will have expansion/job details since by now we should have had at least 1 fan fest and are behind on details only 1 patch left for the expansion and we have had no details on 6.0 at all.

Sarcasm and wittiness aside - The usual retort to any change in healers but yet can't come up with any ideas on their own to make healers "Fun".

I think an expansion launch trailer will be a given. As to the rest...I'm sort of expecting Feb 5th to be one big information dump about the next expansion since they missed Fanfest part 1 and 2. So...probably new job announcements as well, among other things.

I'd like to be proven wrong, but probably the usual. They'll detail what's coming up in the next few patches. Maybe show pictures of upcoming mounts, furniture, and maybe even gear. Maybe even show new Viera and Hrothgar hair (to go on the Mogstation, mwahahah!) if they aren't totally apathetic. Then move on to some expansion teasers. Maybe tease (if not outright reveal) a (or even "the?") new job. And they'll wrap-it up by announcing their newest feature to /gpose: customizable dialogue boxes!

I have a few things I'd like to see, but I'll keep my expectations reasonable. Honestly, I'm probably more piqued to see some of the, well, "meltdowns" that'll probably pop up here on the forums when people don't see specifically things they were expecting in 6.0 in the coming months.

well the reason i am not sure exactly what it will announce is we have LL's for patch announcements and what is coming up, so why just have an announcement stream for what they do timed with live letters.

i will say they could announce nothing expansion wise and this be a whole stream just to announce some collaboration or some other something that is sometimes announced at the end of a LL but want to give it more attention or even say they wanna announce stream fan fests were it's virtual who knows!

That's common Live Letter stuff. Keep in mind that the Announcement Showcase is what's replacing all three Fan Fest events, information-wise, since the third one was going to be held in February.
We've always had an expansion reveal on the first fan fest; Heavensward at NA 2014, Stormblood at NA 2016, Shadowbringers at NA 2018. And by the third fan fest of their respective years, we'd have a fairly clear picture on the features (races, jobs, zones).

Expecting a job tease, news about a stat squish or some other system changes; TP removal from skills was revealed at the first Fanfest for 4.0 and its outright removal was at 5.0's first they also detailed charge actions at that time. We'll probably also see a trailer and find out what the next limited job is, since they're creatures of habit and will absolutely release a new limited job in 5.5. Other than that? Who knows.

I mean, this is for PLLs. Which there is one immediately following the announcement showcase, so the showcase itself is for the "future" of FFXIV; as Yoshida has clarified numerous times since it was announced in November, rather than for the expansion we're currently in. People seem to forget the order for the events on the 5th was the Showcase > 14hr Broadcast > late night PLL > Continuation of broadcast. All we're missing out on is the 14hr thing, and need I remind people that the showcase was literally going to have a live audience that was specifically invite only.

All the PLL stuff was to come after that, not before, as the showcase itself was supposed to "clip" into the start of 14 hour stream.

Might be wrong, but I think both StB and ShB expansion announcements happened between X.4 and X.5.
So, of course everybody is expecting it to be the 6.0 announcement.
I don't see why it wouldn't be to be honest...
On top of that, they said their development schedule has been delayed by 2 months because of Covid, but that they are now back on track.
Fan Fest was scheduled for the end of November, which would be about 2 months prior to Feb 5th. They always announce expansions during Fan Fests.
So yeah, this is the expansion announcement stream. Nothing else to expect.

Depending on how long the stream is going to be, they might put the first 5.5 live letter in there as well. (pretty sure the JP team mentioned something about that, but don't quote me on this)
