You're correct but I'll still say that players already chuck millions in gil to be carried for said weapons if they want them that bad anyway.Basically, your proposal would allow players to just chuck millions of Gil at the Market Board to get the Weapon from an Extreme Trial they are too bad to clear. The weapon is a reward for that content and shouldn't be given out like that.
Dungeon Gear isn't all that better compared to Market Gear, so no need to make it avaiable. If people want it for Glamour, then put in effort.
New people do get help with queues via Roulettes, and for your Coil Example PF groups for that always fill rather quickly unless you try on off hours.
Also, ad absurdum, your proposal would allow for Tome Gear, Savage Gear, and Ultimate Weapons to be bought with Gil. Just... no.
Because some old content has zero incentive to them doing them now. Old dungeons are only really good if someone is after a specific glamour piece or a minion—because the gear is outdated and not useful for anything else other than company seals; and some of the crafted mats from the dungeons can just be purchased off the MB. Usually for very cheap, too. But most older dungeons could be duo’d or solo’d, so you don’t really need many older players to do them. Just grab one other friend and go to town if it’s not something you can do solo. Squadrons and Trusts are also an option for dungeon glamour farming, if that’s what you’re wanting to do.
Any older content that would be worth it to run (e.g., Coil, old Savage, old Extremes) can be done via undersized Party Finders (or solo, as all of Coil can be solo’d by a level 80 player now). That’s the most common way of mount/glamour farming those types of content. Veteran players that would want to help can simply join those PFs. Done so myself many times, and it’s not an uncommon thing to see mount/glamour farm PFs for old Extremes or Savages to fill up when they’re posted. Just depends on the time of day of how quickly you can get people for them.

Horrible idea, even more stuff on the MB that sells for breadcrumbs. If you don't want them, sell them fro GC seals.
I dont see the logic against discarding old items if you dont want them. its not like they cost anything. so.. where is the issue? I dont see heaps of discarded "market prohibited" items laying around teh cities or out in the world so cant be a pollution problem
Market Prohibited creates incentive for players to do the content if they want the reward. The "Market Prohibited" restriction on items is pointless and must be removed.
The only thing this does is have players carry unusable items from old content that is not done much anymore.
By removing the restriction, it allows new players to get gear and items from that content.
Also it will encourage old players to go back and do, and even solo in some cases, old content, which will cause servers congestions to diminish in several areas too.
Why are you rolling on those items if you don't intend to use them? Let others in the party have them. If you were soloing the content for WT, skip opening the loot chest. If you were soloing the content trying to fish for a specific glamour piece or other reward, take a few seconds to discard what you don't want when you're done. The Lochs is a good place to do it - you might spawn Salt and Light.
If new players want the items, they should be doing the content instead of buying it off the MB.
It won't do anything to encourage old players to go back to do the content when all those items will end up worthless on the MB due to oversaturation.
I bought 2 sets of Rinascita armor for my two main jobs, Now that I got Hypostatic armor for my MCN I was trying to sell the old armor but it is shown as "Market Prohibited". On the other hand, my WAR armor doesn't have that restriction. Why did it happen? Any way to remove the label. Was planning to get back a couple gil back. I can see the same item offered in the market. I have used both jobs in lvl 90 dungeons.
Once crafted armor is worn during combat (or had its appearance applied to other items for glamour), it cannot be resold to other players. It could be that you equipped the WAR set but did not actually wear it while in combat so it remained eligible for sale. Most (if not all) of what you're seeing on the marketboard is being sold by the crafter who made it to sell.I bought 2 sets of Rinascita armor for my two main jobs, Now that I got Hypostatic armor for my MCN I was trying to sell the old armor but it is shown as "Market Prohibited". There is no way to remove the tag once it is applied to the gear. You can sell it directly to a vendor for a few hundred gil or you can turn it in at your Grand Company for seals that can be used to purchase Ventures, Dark Matter, crafting materials or other items.
"Old" gamers help out with everything, specially regarding content. I can't see the problem here at all.One of my points is that no item should ever have to be discarded, it is just a waste.
Nowadays, not many people do old content, let's say Coil of Bahamut for Example.
The other day I actually had to help someone clear it because the person was unable and not many people do it.
Coil of Bahamut I see listed as an open run weekly and anyone can join up with veterans.
All serious Fc's do the same.
I agree that market-prohibited shouldn't be a distinguisher on items, but only for items that are still tradeable. There's no reason for me to have to go to Party Finder to be able to find Black Clay to buy.
No, just no. There's only a few items that have to be discarded. Most non tradable items can be desynthed or traded to a gc. Current system is fine and far better than something that would end up crashing the market completely on some items and make crafting of extreme weapons and of some models pointless. Just do the content.
