I am about to continue leveling my crafters, they were on 50 for so long.
I've seen many people leveling fast in The Firmament, but I do not understand it, how are they leveling so fast?

My crafters were all 80 before the firmament was a thing, so i have no direct knowledge on this matter. But i have heard that the IR collectables are worth a lot of exp. Try making a few to hand in, and see how it goes. If its not as fast as you like, you still have GC daily turn ins, custom deliveries, levequests, and beast tribes you can use.
SE greatly increased the XP earned for DoH/DoL classes this expansion. I was able to level BSM on one of my alts from 0-80 in 7 hours earlier this week without using Firmament at all, and I had the character doing all its own crafting instead of buying items for class quests and leves off the MB.
Most prefer Firmament because fewer gear upgrades are needed as you level. I prefer doing collectables for House of Splendors since yellow scrip is going to be needed for master books and is helpful for materia.
Someone asked this same question during a concerted effort yesterday(someone complaining he couldnt level crafting because he couldnt play 8 hours a day started the conversation). One of the responses was from a guy who said it took 3-4 hours per class to do 20-80 using restoration, and that was with stopping for gear upgrades a few times(of course, once you have those upgrades you would just keep them for the other classes coming along behind). He also said that was with gathering his own mats, but i wonder if some exaggeration was at play.
Regardless, Jojoya is right that exp rewards have been greatly boosted. When i was leveling a HQ starred GC turn in was worth half a level(roughly), and ive seen people level more then once on the same class standing at the GC turn in counter since then. Unless someone found a hack to do multiple "daily" turn ins per class, that means they got more then 1 levels worth of exp.
The GC Supply/Provisioning Missions now reward up to 3 levels if it's the item in demand for the day and you turn in HQ (XP drops considerably once the items are level 74 and above). Very helpful if you're leveling slowly, not so helpful if you're trying to power level in one day..
