I play with Japanese audio, but I often turn on English for Zurvan just to hear “SUFFER IN ENDLESS TORMENT”. Back when it was the current EX primal, that line was such a mood in PF.

For some of my favorite quotes, they tend to be the original Japanese... but one in particular I like from the level 50 DRK quest:

Your “Darkside” is called Hero’s Shade/Hero’s Shadow in the Japanese instead of taking on your name. Interestingly enough, the word “kagemi” can also be translated as “person at one’s side”—which just really adds to the entire mood of the quest chain surround you and your “Darkside”. This line is what they say to you before you commune with them the last time. (In the English, they say: “Listen to my voice. Listen to our heartbeat. Listen...”)

The Japanese says, roughly, “[Player], I am the you that could not be a hero. But I wonder if I can be with you once more.” When I looked up the Japanese, I found the quest far more touching compared to the English. There’s a tumblr post with the full translation here. I can only translate bits and pieces myself, so this post helped me understand it more fully.

It seems they did forget to include it, but the equivalent in the JP version would likely be:

HERO’S SHADE: So this is the fruit of your labor...

Unrelated, but I was watching the cutscenes after the 5.3 trial—

And I feel like the hopelessness of Elidibus’ character really shines through in the Japanese because he says something along the lines of “I thought I would see the people I cared for again. But I am the only one left...and it can’t be helped, can it?”

Assuming I translated that correctly—it’s very rough because I haven’t actively used Japanese in well over a year—it just really hit me hard when I listened to it. His Japanese VA also really conveys that hopelessness right before he fades away.

I like both versions here; but I would be really curious to for sure know the direct translation of the Japanese. Same for the level 80 DRK quest. I haven’t looked into translating it in a very rough sense, but I wonder what your Darkside says to you as you stand looking over Whitebrim. If they say something completely different there, too.

Coming in to 5.3 I actually had no inclination who the trial boss (Seat of Sacrifice) would be as the Dev Team mentioned it will be what we do not expect.
However, after the book scene in the library and the echo flashback scene for Elidibus before kidnapping Y'shtola, I came to suspect who it will be.
I became very sure that it will indeed be the iconic character after the "sparring of words" between Elidibus and Y'shtola.

Still, the cutscene of the transformation during the trial still gave me goosebumps.

"WE GO TOGETHER!" I didn't really care for Grynewaht before the doma castle boss fight but his voice acting during that fight really pulls me in, just a few voice lines giving the impression that he's in pain and wants to die, but wants to take us down with him.
