Level 80s who single target groups of mobs

The problem with this game is that mediocrity is praised, and catered to. If something is too hard they nerf it. They are the community destroying this game, destroying all sense of difficulty in general content, and pushing for the game to be made fully into a pseudo single-player game. You want level 80's to aoe? Yeah right. You better not ask them to do AOE either, oh no. That is, apparently, compelling a playstyle, you do that you are breaking the TOS. That's the fact of the matter, and it will only become more prevalent as time goes on.

I agree and that is why I think players should use the vote kick feature more yet the game and community seem against such things. Just recently on our servers NN, someone was silently kicked from their group and they mentioned in NN they were removed. When I started to ask questions as to why they thought they were removed they mentioned that they had "tankxiety" as a level 54 tank, I mentioned they should take a pill for that NN overall got pissy with me and told me I was being rude. Cause apparently doing single pulls as a level 54 is still considered standard and okay cause they may get anxious. When questioned as to why would they play a role that makes them anxious they said cause they enjoy it. Which baffles me, if one enjoys something shouldn't they strive to do it well. Who wants to enjoy doing something poorly.

Single pulling isn't bad play by the game's standard, only by the rushing, "git gut"-crowd. It has become bad standard by the communitie maximum efficiency mindset (and I'm not saying this is by itself a bad thing). You and I don't know if he's playing "bad" out of pure malice hidden behind "tanxiety" just to ruin someone's day or not.

While "take a pill" might not be the best thing to say, keep in mind the community votes people out of dungeons. Playing against the standard means you're going to get votes stacked against you.

I won't bat an eye to click "yes" on voting to remove a single-pulling tank at 80, but in the 50s I might consider finding out if the single-pulling tank knows what buttons are.

Learn to play both ways, because the people you're matched with will determine if what you're doing is acceptable.

At level 50 something it's entirely possible to have only done maybe 6 dngns TOTAL. Source: Literally my PLD. I get massive tanxiety entering into dungeons because having only participated in like 6 total, I still don't have a proper rotation, I may not know the dngn well enough to pull more than 3-6 mobs at a time, and there's a massive expectation to be "the best" as a tank. Also telling someone to "take a pill" is considered rude. It might not seem so to you, you might have the most compassionate of intentions, but it is. Tanxiety isn't an anxiety disorder, it's not something you just take meds for and voila, you're better - it's a normal response to doing something new that you *want* to enjoy and that you don't want to be seen as a *failure* by others.

Mine moreso is caused by experiences I've had as DPS watching others rail on tanks for minute mistakes. Going into the role like that, that's what I've seen and what I've come to expect - so there's a level of fear of failure. You may be the least important role but you're also almost always the reason for a wipe, even when you aren't, in my experience.

There's no need for tankxiety. Even if someone has 0 parctice. Just know your skills (you should read your tooltips from new skills you get). Don't use your deff CDs all at once and remeber that arm's lenght and reprisal are deff-cds too. Keep your gear up to date. The tanks have a single and an aoe rotation. All other stuff is dmg optimization. Don't be shy pulling wall to wall. If it fails - that's not the end of the world. Maybe check if the healer and DPS are aoeing if you're running out of CDs. You can communicate. If you warn your healer that you're just learning, they will maybe babysit you more.

Not using AOE skills is bad in my opinion. Even more if they are on someones hotbar and are just not used. But that's the thing in reading tooltips. Sure, they can be confusing. But if the person really cares, they would ask or check the internet. There are so many guides out there. Uuuhm ok, we're talking about lvl 80 characters. Uuuhhmmm maybe they really just don't care.

I'm just biting the bullet and go through the dungeon. If it was really bad, I'll blacklist the person. If I'm in a good mood, I'll try to teach or give some tips. But mostly I'm trying to give my best to speed the things up.

I have a macro to let everyone know I'm still learning how to tank. It's been vital in letting others know what to expect from me - not a lot of big pulls and maybe a bit more mistakes, but letting them know has made things go a lot more smoothly. I've still had the one out of line comment - along the lines of "If you're not comfortable tanking at all then don't tank at all." (Which completely negates the point of using small low level dungeons to learn?)

But tanxiety is still going to be there ahah, because of my experience as DPS in roulettes watching tanks get railroaded for tiny mistakes that don't even set the group back. (happens to healers too, which is why I've also got healer anxiety).

Tank anxiety is thinking that you are responsible for mobs not dying in time, you not getting healed in time, other people dying to aoes or other kinds of incompetence. But you're not responsible for those things. Adopting a mindset that even though you lead the way you're not really in control of how the pull goes, and just focusing on your own play, can reduce anxiety and allow you to speed things up. It did for me.

My suggestion is to stop caring and just tank. People are quick to latch onto anyone else being the problem.

Don't worry about outing yourself as a new tank, either; if people don't like something, let them tell you. Stay undercover as long as you can, run dungeons repeatedly, and eventually you'll be able to make it all the way through without someone spotting you as new.

Don't underestimate your party's ambivalence. Most of them just want to get in and get out; use that to your advantage and strive to be the most invisible, unseen tank you can possibly be while learning the content. Not great, not bad. Just there.

Do your homework, though; read tooltips, a guide or two. Don't get too deep into guides until your tank is caught up to your other roles.
