A lot of MMOs won't let you name yourself after a government or military title. Because ... new players might think that makes you a GM or something? I dunno.

I do know they've got a banned-name list, and also (like you found with 'Duchiss') that it doesn't adjust for even minor misspellings. Which would explain why I (briefly) saw a Roe named Adolf Hilter running around. With the mustache and army uniform and everything

The naming rules are weirdly inconsistent about this. Duchess and King seem to be banned but pretty much every other noble or royal title, including Duke and Queen, work fine.

wow so many actually thoughtful responses. yes to some of you, ive tried first, ive tried last. i would go with the Duchesse, or Dutchess... but the Name "Duchess" has belonged to the character since her start, as an inside joke and though it would fit the bill, it wouldnt feel right to me. i do feel the censoring of a name should be more lenient if thats the case.

king isnt banned, theres plenty of folks with the name king in their name. its just duchess, and im pretty sure it's bc its close to an off-color word.

princess, prince, queen, king, and duke work fine, so its not the game blocking out titles either.
