Hello hello! So as the title suggests, the PS5 controller doesn't seem to use the same support as the PS4 controller.
For example. When I plug in my PS4 controller, I can just select the playstation layout from settings and it works fine, likewise for the Xbox controller. However when I use the ps5 controller, Neither of the layouts works with XIV and the button mapping is strange, for example X is swapped with O, R2 is R1 etc etc. When I attempt to do a controller calibration it doesn't even register the analog sticks when I push them around, or the DPad.
While I'm aware there 'is' a fix if you're a steam user, you can use the PS5 controller by running XIV through big picture mode. But this option doesn't work for those on PC using the native client, and we would have to use third party programs to get it to work which as we all know is against ToS and also opens the issue about malware from the providers.
My hope is that with the PS5 being released and I'm sure XIV's eventual elevation to the platform as well, We'll be able to start getting support for the controller as well. Because truthfully? It's super comfortable to use and I'd rather not have to buy another ps4 controller to play the game as I want, especially considering my current controller is dying. Analog stick locks up and sometimes rotates without input. It's no fun, And it's a hardware issue that the controllers have had since launch. But the PS5 controller I've had zero issues with but Just can't use because I can't calibrate it.
Is there any fix I can use? Aside from "use another controller" Because I already said why that's not really something I can do. Finances and old hardware.
