Yea they have gotten a bit lazy on clothes for Miqo'te and Au Ra. You can see some of the older armors that had were designed for with the tail in mind.

Head gear is a bit different from how they explained it as require the headgear to be fit Hrothgar and Viera.

Yep. No ear holes for miqo'te anymore. They used to try to hide tail clipping with bows and stuff, pretty much nothing anymore. Just brazen clipping. It's a real headache.

God yes! Viera needs new hair so bad, I won't stop talking about it either! Though, I always was more interested in new hair for viera than hats being made to work, I barely use hats. I like the option of seeing them though..

Heavensturn always gives the same style of helmets and they aren't going to break the pattern now.

Maybe instead of crying you should suck it up, do the quest and get the hat. I'm sure 6.0 will have what you want alongside the other genders, etc. SE would be dumb to not include or say anything regarding the genders or hats in the coming expansion when there has been an uproar over it since the release. I mean they would.....right? (Nervous Laugh).

honestly, if i were in charge that's what i'd have my team do, as well. why not just knock them all out at once when you know you plan on doing it annually, save time on making new gear down the line

I did the quest, threw the helms in the armoir, and moved on. Never used any of the past event helms when I was an Au Ra, doubt these would be any different.

It's because the models haven't been built in a way that is compatible with some types of headgear. It's not just a matter of them not retrofitting things - they were built with the mindset that they would never be compatible and that's just how it works.

On this very forum people have shown pictures of modders who put hats on Hrothgar. Am I expected to believe that an army of paid programmers of a multi million dollar/yen whatever company can't do that on their own?

And even if it's a hoax, how shortsighted can you be to make a race that's not compatible with most of what came before in terms of headgear? Why release it in that unfinished state.

Correct. They grew comfortable in their complacency. We are seeing it again though it has happened slowly over time. Things are coming to a head though as far as this game is concerned.

May suggest the idea of making equal poly flower pots to characters is a bit different than if they were really wanting to give players a new race but didn't have the ability to unlock all the gear without a cost so high to say might as well not make them. Then they see many people don't even use most of the headgear and made a cost analysis and went with it. I'm sure there have been contents they've released and known they will get negative feedback from certain groups but were thinking "this wasn't made for everyone, this was made for that one group in the corner".

Not to suggest that "hey cool the race has limitations, love it" but just that I don't quite think the failures of 1.0 quite line up exactly with what happened with Hrothgar and Viera. Though I do think what happened is evidence of why perhaps either a cataclysm like effort on the code base or a new mmo (not to be released before the end of FFXIV's main saga at least) would be nice. If we assume they did their best then it's clear they're hobbled by their system, which makes sense - this happens all the time and can take herculean efforts to just not possible, but obviously something they have to contend with. If we assume they just did the bare minimum then well... oof.. lol. I don't think they did, but people can be allowed to make that argument.

On a personal note the headgear issue has been pretty non-issue as I hardly ever wear headgear anyways, and have been quite happy with the race. Although I do think there should be a priority to accomplish two tasks, and be made a public statement if they're confident in their ability to accomplish it, that A. all mogshop purchases of any sort (hair, headgear) are made to fit both races and with overlap (extension of the last issue really) but B. all event items to fit both races, finally C. if the head and hair cannot be separated then both races may freely change their entire head then within the barber (not their race)
