Controller delay and FPS while playing on PC

    Hi o/

I play FFXIV on a PC but I use a PS4 controller and within the last week I've had some weird issues that I have no idea how to fix or what started them. Theres been no windows updates and no graphic driver updates, and all of my hardware is up to date.

When using my controller, it sort of stutters sometimes, I make my character turn and she won't run, she starts walking, or she just auto runs for a few seconds and I can't stop her. when turning the camera or sometimes just randomly, I have frame drops, the system settings say it's only a drop of 5 frames but it feels like way more, I'm not sure if its tearing or what; I'm bad at computers.

So far I've disabled windows game mode and disabled root emulator and that hasn't helped. when i swap to keyboard and mouse, I have no issues with moving my character and theres only minor frame drops so I'm totally confused. I hardly run anything in the background but I have pretty good pc and it just makes no sense that it was running perfectly last week and now this week it's weird (This problem started before the patch yesterday). and I've done the generic restart everything, change the usb that the controller is plugged into etc and no luck.

My controller is 3 years old, and sadly I don't have a spare so I can't test it that way.

TLDR: character randomly walks or auto runs, the camera moves by itself, weird fps drop and just the controller isnt working properly, but it is fine in all my other PC games

Any help is welcomed as I'm seriously at a loss

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

To prevent repeating previously attempted troubleshooting, what have you tried to alleviate the problem? Does this issue happen when Final Fantasy XIV is the only program running? Where in game does the issue occur? Also, could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

    o/

This only happens with FFXIV, all of my other controller PC games work absolutely fine. so far I've turned off root emulator and windows game mode, as well as monitored the device manager to see if it is trying to refresh but this hasn't seemed to have helped. I've replaced the PS4 controller wire and the issue is a little better but not great, as well as this I have no idea why I get a random frame drop or stuttering, it says that it only drops 3 frames but it feels like way more

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize for the delay in responding and that you are experiencing difficulties with your controller. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Try using a genuine Xbox360 or Xbox One controller (preferably wired) as these are compatible with Windows OS.
    - Try plugging the controller into different ports (both front and back).
    - Make sure all drivers for the controller are fully up to date.
    - Uninstall and reinstall the device drivers.
    - Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and controller as the only active devices.
    - If you are using a specialized gaming keyboard, try using a different keyboard to ensure there are no conflicts between the devices.
    - Try unplugging all other devices and only plugging in the mouse, keyboard, and controller.
    - Make sure Windows has been fully updated from the Microsoft/Windows Update website.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
