I'mma just say this. My over all point is if Lyse gets hate because of plot being stupid because lets face it... that was PLOT. And honestly... think about who we're talking about here. She was always that dumb. Don't act like Yda was the smartest character in the cast in ARR people. OFCOURSE she'd try to hold a meeting to try to stop the fighting and summoning of primals. Because at that point she was looking for anything to work. Noone believed it would even you/us. That's why we were there btw to handle the problem if it happened to become a problem. And in that one thing everyone calls out... techinally we all failed that one. Because they had people uncover which WE didn't even see. So everyone failed that. Not just Lyse. Everyone!

Hien pretty much is no better, what did he do before we came there and fixed his problems? Sit on a hill and hide for years? great leader I guess. He didn't do anything to prove he's any better. And he's just as stupid. Lets believe the evil brother trying to trade with us and when the WOL says not to trust him what does he say? " don't worry about it" Shit atleast Lyse can show the native card. What's Hien's excuse not taking our advice huh? Plot is your only answer. Had we not came to Hien's hill his people will all be dead, he would not have won the mini fight contest for the mol - the WOL won that thank you - He'd not got his castle back and XIV's japan would still be uncontrol of the empire. So if Lyse gets hate cause she did nothing then you have to hate all the NPCs because they all fall under the same issue. They do nothing unless plot says so.. and most of the time plot says WE gotta fix it. So who does anything but us?

They were tempered by the Namazu, obviously. The true Ascians and servants of Zodiark. Most of the people we see in robes are actually 2-3 namazu standing on top of one another.

Despite all the times the story has us hopping back to the Source this expac we never had much of a chance to meet up with her. I hope they don't just write her out.

Honestly, throughout Stormblood I wished it was Lyse who sacrificed herself and Papalymo decided to join the resistance for her.
Lyse annoyed the hell out of me, I couldn't really be bothered by whatever she was or wasn't doing because I was simply tired of her being angry and loud all the damn time. That's pretty much all she did the whole expansion - complain. And maybe punch a few people.

As for Zenos - I like him. In a sense that it was nice to see a villain that WoL didn't just defeat with one hand. A lot of antagonists act all strong but in the end we defeat them first try. Zenos is different, he actually posed a threat and a challenge for the WoL.
Yes, his reasoning might be a bit... eh, but does every bad guy has to have some kind of meaningful motive? Besides, considering that he returns after his death it would be silly to give him character development before he even died. So if he gets any I'd expect it in the next expansion.

She also said "let's summon the Ananta that still really hate us for a peace summit. Let's just sit in a circle on the floor and talk it all out. It'll be fine!" Spoilers: it wasn't fine. They attacked, which anyone who wasn't her should have seen coming a mile away

I don't think Lyse was well-written overall, but I'm tired of this scene being held up as a example of her incompetence because she wasn't at fault in the way everyone seems to remember it.

She* invited every tribe in the region, because if she didn't then it would have been politically awkward and they probably would have taken offence and become more hostile.

* (I'm not sure that it was her personal decision who to invite, anyway.)

Additionally, the expected outcome was that the Qalyana would refuse the invitation anyway, so it caught everyone by surprise when they actually arrived - and would have been even more politically awkward to refuse to let them participate at that point. This wasn't a single-handed decision by Lyse, but supported by Raubahn.

They also didn't simply trust the Qalyana, but treated them as suspicious and took precautions to ban them from bringing crystals into the chamber, specifically to prevent them from being able to conduct a summoning if that was the intent. They just failed to consider the possibility that crystals had been planted in the room already by sympathetic, tempered Resistance members.

That was just one example, really, not THE example. Her incompetence was felt throughout the entirety of the Stormblood MSQ. I was just using one of the more notable events that comes to my mind. It wasn't entirely her doing but she still had a hand in it. But yeah, she wasn't written very well. This isn't limited to Lyse, sadly. Many characters are poorly written. Lyse just annoys me the most. lol Part of the problem is that she basically materialized out of thin air and didn't really have much character development since her reveal, yet she somehow ended up in a leadership role in the end. She didn't change at all during the entire story of Stormblood. There was no baptism by fire, although I think that is what they were trying to do but ultimately failed. She was just thrown into it and seemingly learned very little. To this day, she remains next to useless.

I didn't really find her particularly intriguing character-wise.

Additionally, I didn't understand why she didn't look even a little bit Ala Mihgan.

She is a perfectly blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman with pale skin and she's presented as a savior and potential leader to a downtrodden people.

But I suppose that is an irrelevant nitpick and I'm looking a bit too deeply into it.
