    UPDATE: someone on reddit mentioned something about the documents folder having to be the same language as the installer. So for reference my OS is in german and the launcher was installed in english. I uninstalled the launcher and deleted everything related to ffxiv in my Documents folder, installed the launcher again but this time selecting everything to be in german. By doing that the launcher manages to make progress but still getting lots of errors and I still have to delete or rename the patch folders in Documents.

    THIS IS NOT A FIX! But if someone finds this post on google it's worth a try if it's relevant for you
