    Blacklist for housing when?

My RP FC has had a troll for over a month now. They keep making alts and keep coming back, and we can't do anything about it. It's gotten to the point we have FC members uncomfortable to come back. And yes, we have blacklisted them and mass reported them, but they're spamming emotes. So while we can't see what they say, it doesn't matter when they're literally ontop of us naked and teabagging. I have video evidence of them doing this, along with hacking, but they keep coming back. If they can't be IP banned, please, can we get a blacklist for our houses? This would have been over so quickly if we could. I am begging you to make it an option. Every other MMO has a system like this, why can't FF14? If the GMs won't do anything about this troll, we need the tools to put it into our own hands.

And yes, I can send the obvious video evidence the GMs "can't use in their investigation" if you don't believe me.

Agreed, as a member of this FC it has been causing our members no insignificant amount of stress and a simple ability to keep people from housing would fix the solution easily.

I am going to guess you are rping outside your house and have the house unlocked. If you are outside there is nothing that can be done to stop a player from visiting your plot. As for indoors your best option is lock the house when you are not having non FC members over for events or rp.

We are an RP venue, a cafe/bar/lounge. This is what we do. We are RPing inside the house and with anyone who wants to come. We have asked his person several times to leave, of course they don't. Their other characters and accounts have been banned, and even if we do lock and unlock to let people in, they're literally sitting outside the house every day waiting for someone to unlock it.

Alright now your request makes sense I was lost on it. You want to blacklist people from being able to enter the house when its unlocked.

Exactly, being able to blacklist them from entering at all would be a simple solution to this problem. And I know for a fact we are not the only RP venue with this problem. Every venue has their blacklist, but what does that really mean? Since we can't keep them from coming, they can just enter and annoy people even if they've been "banned." Just make a blacklist for the house, and if they're on there they just can't enter at all.

Blacklists are generally client side, not server side, which is why they're limited in what they accomplish.

The other MMOs with housing that I've played didn't have a housing blacklist. Instead they had a housing friends list so you could select who could enter if you didn't want your housing open to all players.

The more you react to this player, the more you encourage them to keep behaving as they are. And I find it unusual that you know so much about this player you can claim they have other accounts that have been banned.

All you can do is support tickets for harassment to the GMs complaining about this player's behavior and discussing how it's making you along with others in your FC uncomfortable, disrupting your game play.

Blizzard friendlist blacklists are server sided, but very restricted because of that. Often even too restricted. But even that already helps massively because even with just a list of 75, by the time you reached the 75th, you probably can already remove it because its outdated. Sure, some players are a bit excessive and would need more of that (streamers usualy), but for most players such small list works fine.

Its not even that heavy in resources to make. Lets say each player id is still translated to a 64bit integer (8 bytes - which is actualy a lot as it can contain the entire human population millions of times). This would translate to 128 entries per kB. With a 1000 entries per blocklist (24 entries are removed to store overhead data). You would need 8kB per house.

Lets say we add a state to the players so they can be marked as blacklisted, whitelisted, owner, whatever etc. And we store that in an integer with it (some bits of that integer can be used as a boolean), we can add another 8 bytes. Which would be excessive here. but its easy to calculate with.

We are then still talking about megabytes of data for the entire blocklist for all servers here. And for this even keeping 1GB of space is something that even a basic cheap webserver with mysql could easily handle. Its such low value that it can be managed within RAM on a single basic webserver if that was needed.

The limit is usualy the cost for devs to make it. A yearly cost of $500 to prevent harassment for just storing, hosting and backing up the data is realy not a lot. And when the server has its features shared, is doable. Its only its initial creation that realy adds a lot of costs. Technology wise this is such low amount of data and simple enough data that there is no trouble here. And with it, it saves a LOT of work for the support department of handling support tickets for harrasment, as players can now resolve most cases themselve. That most likely is going to generate profit instead of costing resources.

We know it's the same person because they come in with the same looking character, and are literally stalking an FC member. That member doesn't feel safe. They have also been hacking, every time it's the same kind. Teleporting everywhere and literally flying across the ward to get to our FC house. They specifically target lalafells. It's very clearly the same person. Our FC member literally doesn't wanna come back! They've also admitted to other FC members they have a friend they're teleporting to. It's always a lvl3 roe man with green face paint. We have sent several mass reports for over a month, and he just comes back on a new account, or new character. The GMs need to be able to IP ban.

And I find it infuriating that blatant video evidence cannot be used in an investigation against this guy! I can easily ignore him, it's the fact the GMs aren't doing what they should that's bothering me.

As for the housing blacklist in other games, ESO has that. If a person is on your blacklist, they can't enter your house, or teleport to you. End of discussion. Period.

IP bans are not very effective and can be bypassed.
