Personaly i find it hilarious when someone like Mr. Rokien here who's Culinary level is 0 and has absolutely no idea how much culinary sucked for more than a year since release because it was too complicated and that SE fixed it recently revamping pretty much every damn culinary recipe, making it WAY better than it used to be and less complicated, making every cook in game happy.
But there's no way Rokien would know this, cause he never even cooked a single sea sand lols
And yet he's here, making a pizza irl and comes with his "brilliant" ideas how to make culinary complicated again.
I think its time for him to answer with something that doesn't makes sense, then troll a bit and go make a new thread lols
In beta all I did was craft. So I'll get that out of the way.Personaly i find it hilarious when someone like Mr.

I'm not making anything more complicated. Just a more depth system.
So, lets see, Meat Miq'abob Fire Shard x3
Dodo Tenderloin x1
Paprika x1
Ruby Tomato x1
Lavender Oil x1
Table Salt x1
Black Pepper x1
Don't like Tomato, don't add it, you will get a slightly different effect. Taking one ingredient out of the equation, making it LESS complicated of a craft. Though, I did do an edit on my OP, you should read it about the meal things. That just adds more depth to the cooking, not more complicated.
Also, as I stated before, FOOD effects everyone, not just the people making it.
There are a total of 86 fully finished dishes right now. We can assume an average of 3 ingredients per dish (a low and generous amount for this example). At 3 ingredients per dish, there are are 7 possible combinations or end-results. That's 602 total dishes, which is excessive. In beta all I did was craft. So I'll get that out of the way.

When the average number of ingredients jumps to 4, the total dishes is 1548. That's insane.
Please think about what you're requesting before you make a topic.

"Maybe making different recipiese for each item is a little much"
Also, if a game like earthbound can do it, I don't see why this game couldn't.

That is absolutely not different, because the end result must still be an item that has to sit in your inventory. It's an object that must be defined before you are able to see it in-game. Pick up a beginners' book on discrete math and combinatorics before you make suggestions like this. What you're suggesting offers very little gameplay benefit and it's actually something that is bleeding edge computer science experimentation, because of the sheer amount of data and variability that needs to be accounted for.

Creating thousands of new recipes with new results that give new stat bonuses, then adding various combinations of those recipes to combine into meals that give other bonuses is not complicated at all you say?
Well... reply that makes no sense arrived, now just need to wait for some trolling and then talk to you in your new thread like usually...![]()

Complicated for the devs sure, for the players, no. I've already said it could be a little much..... soo I don't see the point in you in trying to argue with me or why you are.Creating thousands of new recipes with new results that give new stat bonuses, then adding various combination of those recipes to combine into meals that give other bonuses is not complicated at all you say?

Also, I said you should read the op again
"there should be a way to add and subtract ingredients from some foods" Key word there some, not all. So no, there wouldn't be "thousands" of new recipes.

Yeah, when I'm looking for a dish on the market wards, I'm totally going to want to filter through a few hundred variances. Or when I'm trying to put some up, I'm totally going to want to set up both my retainers with the few hundred variances, just to make sure that I hit the market right and I don't end up with a variance that someone might not like.
And by the way, people in FFXIV don't eat food for taste or for shits and giggles. They eat it for stats. The stats have been designed in such a way that a particular type of meal is a PLD meal, or a DRG meal, or a BLM meal. Taking away from the stats that it provides makes it a worse option, and doing substitutions with different stats will only make it so that there is only one single best choice dish that everyone will always make, rendering the other combinations bad and worthless.
Food in MMOs is not like food in real life. If I don't like tomatoes in real life, if I tell the chef to omit them from the meal, I get a totally different end-result that is better for my desires.
