Creating thousands of new recipes with new results that give new stat bonuses, then adding various combinations of those recipes to combine into meals that give other bonuses is not complicated at all you say?
Well... reply that makes no sense arrived, now just need to wait for some trolling and then talk to you in your new thread like usually...

Complicated for the devs sure, for the players, no. I've already said it could be a little much..... soo I don't see the point in you in trying to argue with me or why you are.

Also, I said you should read the op again

"there should be a way to add and subtract ingredients from some foods" Key word there some, not all. So no, there wouldn't be "thousands" of new recipes.

Yeah, when I'm looking for a dish on the market wards, I'm totally going to want to filter through a few hundred variances. Or when I'm trying to put some up, I'm totally going to want to set up both my retainers with the few hundred variances, just to make sure that I hit the market right and I don't end up with a variance that someone might not like.

And by the way, people in FFXIV don't eat food for taste or for shits and giggles. They eat it for stats. The stats have been designed in such a way that a particular type of meal is a PLD meal, or a DRG meal, or a BLM meal. Taking away from the stats that it provides makes it a worse option, and doing substitutions with different stats will only make it so that there is only one single best choice dish that everyone will always make, rendering the other combinations bad and worthless.

Food in MMOs is not like food in real life. If I don't like tomatoes in real life, if I tell the chef to omit them from the meal, I get a totally different end-result that is better for my desires.

Hey guess what, an easy fix, add a search feature to the wards.....

Also don't you remember "this doesn't sit well with you" They had it in this game a "taste" thingy

Way to address the rest of my post, where I said that it's something totally stupid to add because the vast majority of these combinations will go unused.

But the problem is not that you're taking away an ingredient. It's that you are, in effect, adding a new recipe.

Ya, I know, and I've said like 3 times now, it probably is a little much, though, I don't see a problem with the meal idea. Heck, they can even make 20 meals, don't even have to combined anything.

It's the lack of knowledge about culinary in game that is keeping you going...
You will just slowly change your OP to the point where it will say only

Culinary recipes where revamped recently, there's nothing wrong with them, they are actually great.
No need to get all creative and make up new systems for the system you have no clue about.
How about instead of spamming forums with your ideas that make no sense and are not helpful in any way, you go and try cooking a thing or 2? Maybe even get your CUL to lvl2? or maybe lvl50? and then come back when you at least find a flaw in that system cause for me it's kinda perfect as it is and i don't see why someone that doesn't cook at all (no, few sea sand synths in beta don't count) should tell devs that it's not good enough for him before even trying it.
As for saying that your idea is complicating things, i didn't mean only for cooks, but for every player that would have to research lots of new recipes, having lots of new options, and would be forced to test various foods in different situations till one would find out what is the best, and then only eat the best food, making all the rest of your recipes unwanted crap that nobody makes nor eats. In other words your silly ideas would take devs lots of work hours for absolutely no reason, cause there would be still the same amount of foods used... Time to make a new thread, don't you think?
