    Spiritbonding and Retainers

    A majority of gil is made through leves as well as players NPCing gear that just isn't worth the time to sell or they skilled up on.

    The idea is what if it was possible to "equip" a set of gear to a retainer and while they were not in a market ward they could build a spiritbond with it. While the MW unity is coming with this next update I just think this would be a neat idea to get more use out of gear rather then create more gil in the market.

    Basic idea is lv 1-30 could take 4hrs to bond, 31-40 8 hrs and 41-50 16hrs to bond with, basically when the retainer remains out of the market ward for x amount of time when you call them their bond will be based on how long they've been out of the ward for.

    The general idea is that those who may not use the MW to sell items can use their retainers to obtain a decent amount of materia on a daily basis and give more responsibilities for retainers lol.

    I'm all for adding more utility to retainers, but this idea is a little...too liberal?

    That would be 10 full sets of gear every week?
    If I had only 10 items on my retainer, that would be 100 materia I could generate per week.

    If 1% was rare materia, and 10% was uncommon, I could be looking at, at least 2M profit per week.

    I'm not sure it is safe to do that in the economy, and would need a lot of tweaking before such a thing could be done. Also it breaks a few 'rules':
    1) The spiritbond happens when you 'use' the item (your retainer is standing around not doing much, so is not really using it).
    2) Spiritbonded would mean it only spiritbonds to your retainer, so when she gives it to you it should loose the spiritbond ^.^;

    But otherwise, it would be interesting to have more things for them to do... but... then they would not be retainer, and more of a 'companion' or 'worker' or something? Which leads to a whole new mechanic.

    I would like to be able to dress them up however I please, but I think having them gain spiritbond is a bit much.

    No thanks Materia is far too common already this would just cause a meltdown.

    I think they should consider removing retainers/marketwards in 2.0, they serve little purpose besides storage boxes.
    • Move retainer to players housing as storage NPC (similar to moogle in FFXI)
    • Add a proper AH
    • Level up Retainer to look after garden and other household chores
