Just copy the Transmog collector system from WoW. Glamour needs a serious update!!!

Look I love FF14 but we need to admit when a system is missing a major feature that I see done well in another MMO. In WoW when you loot an item the items appearance is added to a closet automatically without some convoluted Glamour prism process. In this closet you can see what gear you have not collected along with the appearance and also gear you have.

Blizzard has no issue copying from other MMOs so I think it is time for the Square Enix devs to add this to FF14. It is a good idea and adds an ENTIRE new feature the end game of an MMO.

Right now I have 400 slots in an outdated Glamour drawer that is frustrating to use. Update this system!! It is 2021 and it is time to update this system to be far more user friendly.

While I don't have any issues navigating the current glamour system (still got like 250 empty glam dresser spaces and routinely take stuff out), I'm all for this idea.

blizz said it was a monumental task as well so they outsourced the entire thing apparently so it wouldn't cut into the meat of their patches. Maybe square should start doing that for this kind of thing.

I'm around 300/400 I think, but every now and then I want to use a piece which is actually current gear for me. Then I have to either save the glamour as incomplete and let that item have its normal appearance, or acquire a duplicate of the item. So yeah, I would be all for a Blizzard-style glamour system.

I'm pretty certain this has been asked countless times in the past already and SE has consistantly shot it down stating how gear appearence is coded outright prevents such a system from being implemented (the glamour dresser system is the closest you'll get and even that uses a workaround). The citation for this eludes me at the moment though.

How closely do you want it to mirror the transmog system? With transmog, it's just the appearance that is stored and not an actual item. That works fine for WoW because there's few items worth keeping once you get an upgrade for your class.

Would you be okay if the glamour dresser worked the same way? That would mean losing it as storage for items you might want to equip later, perhaps because you're leveling a new job in the same role.

Personally, I'd be fine with just the appearance getting stored (most items are easy enough to obtain again if needed) but I'm not certain the general player base would agree.

This 10 years old game could well use a remake and update/upgrade not only the code but the graphics as well.


That WoW glamour system you all talk about sounds just like the right solution, it's the same Glamour Log players have been talking about for years, once we get a piece of gear it should be recorded in such log permanently, I'm pretty sure it could be better resource-wise as it would potentially decrease server stress in the long run.
