    Helping out a friend

    so I have a question to help out a friend whos trying to get into the game. I'm trying to walk him through the process of activating his mogstation service for the game and I don't know how to explain it, he has not played the free trial so he cant transfer characters over. can anyone offer any advice?

    how to activate the account. he hasnt played the free trial so he is having a bit of a difficult time with it.

    It should be a technical issue, because the Mog station is a giant black hole of horrible design choices and counter intuitive menu systems. I can only imagine how many people haven't subscribed to this game, because of how badly this particular subscription front end is set up. I had two different accounts, because I've tried the game at various times, and trying to sort getting either one of those activated isn't something I'd wish on an enemy.

    To the OP, my guess is, he has to register his key first, before he can then subscribe. I believe that's down at the bottom of one of the main account pages.

    What i found out that helps new players getting into the game, is having them take a look at the "Beginner's Guide to Eorzea". They added screenshots to the guide, which should make it easier to navigate through the steps required to set op the game.

    Final Fantasy XIV - A Beginner's Guide

    They added a section to the guide where the player can say that they've installed the game but do not have an account yet. It will take you through the steps to create an account via the launcher and enter your registration code.

    If the game has been installed, a Square Enix account has been created and the registration code has been entered, but you still need a subscription in order to play; You can find additional information on how to register a "Service account" in the MogStation or find information about how to renew/add a subscription to your account (search keyword: "service account").
