Might want to check that your GPU drivers are up to date. In the case of any machine using switchable graphics (such as Optimus) you will want to get them from the computer manufacturer as opposed to the GPU vendor (NVIDIA). It is also possible to force the use of your 1050 for FFXIV through the NVIDIA control panel. Right click the desktop, choose NVIDIA control panel (if this doesn't show, the gpu driver may not be installed), on the left pane choose "Manage 3D Settings". Once that shows up on the right pane there should be an option for Global or Program settings, under Program settings select FXIV (you may have to add it, button to the right to do so), you can do this in Global but it will force the NVIDIA gpu in all programs that make a GPU call, even the browser. Not ideal but it'll work. Once selected there should be an option to choose a "Preferred Graphics Processor", choose the NVIDIA option, click Apply and close. If there is no option to choose a Graphics Processor you may have a driver issue. If this is a Dell computer they do sometimes have a BIOS option to only run the discrete chip (NVIDIA processor). If you game on battery the computer will most likely default to using the integrated (Intel) graphics, the NVIDIA processor can be forced but you'll get less than an hour battery if that. My advise is to never game on battery.

Just a quick add, under that same menu (NVIDIA, Manage 3D Settings) scroll down and make sure that "Power management mode" is set to "Prefer maximum performance". In addition go into the Windows Control Panel, select Power Options, make sure "High Performance" is selected. Any of these settings can alter how Optimus behaves as well. Hopefully you are able to resolve the issue
