Lala land? They are already releasing twice tha mount of gear in the same amount of time because of genderlocked variants. Neo-Ishgardian rigns a bell? Latest Eden set too.

You don't seem to get it.

Neo set has a female design and a male design. You seem to think there's a switch they can flip to just make all the male gear work on females or something ... there isn't. Making either design work for the other gender is again "twice the work". If they just made 1 design it would, again, still require them to make it work on every gender/ race combo through QA and such which is really where the time sink goes. That's legit why YP said these are prob the last new races for the game, they can't keep up the pace with which they make gear if they have to QA anymore models with their current pipeline.

Making the gear fit right and look right is what takes time. So ultimately having a female only design and male only design isn't "twice the work" simply because they're different designs.

Think of it this way, if you think of the female Neo gears as it's own thing it's a gear that has to fit 8 models and the male version is a gear that has to fit 8 models. "Fit x number of models" is where the hard part is. If they make a single design that has to fit 16 models it's still designs that has to fit 16 models even if it's the same for both genders. Asking for genderlocks to be removed is asking for the female design to fit and work on 16 models and the male designs to fit and work on 16 models when again "fit x number of models" is the hard part.

Not to mention the female players being allowed to wear PANTS!

There's tons of pants females can wear in this game, don't act obtuse.

Female charcters would still get all the girly shet they got, only that males could also wear it and vice-versa. There have been way to many instances in this game where i have gotten a piece of armor i like and then when i equip it the pants for some obnoxious reason is turned into a skirt.

And funny enough, male characters do in fact get both the male and female versions of the Yohra gear from copied factory, only that the male versions are role and sex locked.

Yeah, I was actually a little salty about that. Because the 9S coats looked amazing, but those were for male characters only. (I have been appeased by the Type-53 fending coat from Puppets' Bunker. Yes, come to me, my precious, you shall be the center of many a Gunbreaker glam going forward...)

I get that in many cases, you need the various race/gender combinations to be individually modeled, so I'm actually okay with them not going back and having to add new models for every single piece of race/gender-locked gear that already exists; that would be a massive time commitment from the art department. And as much as I feel a little salt when I see an NPC in an amazing outfit that I'll never be able to make because it consists of a scouting piece, two aiming pieces, a tank piece, and a gatherer piece or whatever... I do get wanting various gear to stay job-locked.

But I really, really wish that like 70% of the gear out there didn't turn into a skirt, stockings, or underwear when I put it on.

Except for the fact that you can find both running around completely naked... Totally not confusing.

He meant it on a general level, like job, tome and raid gear. There are things like Skallic dungeon gear or even Yorha raid gear which has similar or slight variations because that's the design element.

5.0 had light chain mail tome gear for casters, but it was unique enough that it was still light-weighted gear. He's basically meaning like you shouldn't see things like an Astro hat or say the Eden's Gate healer robe on a tank, or a black mage wearing say heavier armor like a Dragoon or tank.

Now that 2 sets are already being shared they are not race specific, so might as well just share them all at this point. It would be nice to get an additional race specific set.

Job specific gear should stay that way but if it's gear shared by multiple jobs, sometimes as recolors, then there is no reason the rest of jobs couldn't also use the appearance. Same as racial gear.

I'm not against unlocking everything if it costs nothing, but in reality that's not the case. We don't tend to get a masculine hairstyle/glamour/emote as well as a feminine one at the same time unless they are gender locked. So getting non-locked cosmetics usually means that we get nice looking things only half the time and the overall quality and quantity of cosmetic options goes down. Two dozen short hair styles on female characters despite the constant requests for longer, more elaborate hair styles. Dresses which look really unflattering on the male frame and mostly get worn as a joke. One same emote for everyone instead of multiple variants.

Sometimes they get it right though. The long straight hair style is great example of a truly gender neutral option that looks great on everyone. Many hats, gloves and shoes would also work well for both genders. I would just like them use some common sense with the gender locking and consider how much an item is actually going to be used compared to the development time it takes to implement it.

As nice as it would be to wear other roles' gear, I'd rather they focus on removing genderlocks on existing gear first.

I'd also really love to have hempen sets unlocked. There's ones I love like male au'ra hempen bottoms and male elezen hempen tops but I'm not fond of ether race due to their present problems.

Why devs should listen to these people anyway, they already know that even if they remove glamour restrictions, they would still wear their 2B butt, boots and bikini.
I'm all for restrictions, but we definitly need in between lvl 1 glamours that could be worn by everyone.

The only things I think should never be gender/race locked are the mog station items.
Every thing else, I don't care either way.
