Yeah because I've ran plenty of speed runs and it doesn't take much team work to stack 5 of the same class/job and zerg the parts of the dungeon you actually take part in. The rest is a run past these mobs, sleep these mobs, then boss is a peice of cake.

Funny, the person I quoted has two full sets of darklight gear. Of course you wouldn't be upset with the luck you have, meanwhile the rest of us haven't even seen one peice.

Speeding through content the devs creates is stupid. Skipping mobs is dumb. Class/job stacking becoming more evident just to finish it the easiest.. I mean really? Why do people defend this flawed system?

    Well kinda sorta related maybe.

    I hate time limits. :I

Like in dungeons or boss fights. Drives me crazy. I dislike feeling like I have to rush around. So I guess I would also not be a fan of speed runs.

On one hand encouraging speed runs helps development identify imbalance. People will gravitate to the path of least resistance and then that makes it pretty easy to say "Hmm well let's look at <class> <skill>"

One the other hand it makes people feel miserable when they have to do something one way or no way because outside pressure.

Perhaps a "well-balanced" achievement and bonus chest on par with speed run for completing something with 6/8 jobs being unique to the party.

That's the thing, it is an actual challenge, but once your LS or group figures it out, your able to do speed runs. The problem is, we don't get anything for speed runs. Even after constant 20minute speed runs, my LS has yet to even see a body drop. The drop rate is atrocious.

The system supports luck not skill, that is the problem. I actually can't believe the person you quoted has two full set. I've done the run probably 200 times, 25 minutes or faster, with the same group of 8 and we haven't seen a body piece yet. Not to mention we've been fair with drops, and I only have one piece.

Speed runs can work, but need the proper context. Clearing the dungeon in X amount of time is not really proper context.

That being said, not every dungeon should have a speed run component.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

There are those of us who don't want to join elitist endgame shells because a lot of them treat their members like garbage. All the same, without a static group to practice with, it can be easy to fall short of a "speed run". I don't like that I have to choose between selling my soul or doing without amazing gear.

The current dungeons and primals has a few issues 1 being speed run 2 being an instance and 3 crappy drop rates. This is suppose to be endgame content. In fact it is no where near being true endgame content. In stead of every thing being put in an instance, the devs need to make more open world content. These so called dungeons at this point have become boring because players have to farm them over and over in hopes that they will get a drop, and you have to do speed runs for certain pieces of gear. Kill the speed run kill the instanced dungeons and actually make real endgame content. SE and the devs need to stop making excusses as to why they cant do something whether or not it be true or false. If you/they/me or what not cant do it right the 1st time DONT DO IT AT ALL!!! Grant the game has gotten better but... the continued trend of speed runs crappy drop rates as well as instances needs to stop. Not everything needs the same crap drop rate and the only things that need to become instances is real endgame content. At this point we dont have real endgame content all we have is speed runs, very very low drop rates and boring instances.

There's no real impetus to really rush thru these dungeons and SE knows it. The main reason is "traffic" and the amount of players trying to do the same thing...
When there's more content, and I mean "by The Twelve willing" the timer will be longer or totally gone for that matter. HOPEFULLY!
