"Speed Run" trend

This is not a platform game.

Speed run: doing everything hastily. A RPG is not about that. I liked the idea of speedruns at first, just because of Lodestone achievement. But now, you need to do everytime speedrun to (not) get certain items.

Again, this is a RPG: why, instead of lolspeedrun, not put -example- an optional HARD boss to make the fifth chest spawn?

RPG = Roleplaying Game. I can't see why RPG is not about (supposedly) saving the world hastily, instead of lazily partying it out while the bad guy destroying the world.

Sure, someone maybe like it fast. Then, do it fast. No one is saying you or others cant.

But why fifth chest for speed run? If anything, speedrun should only give an achievement, company seals or higher drop rate on the normal 4 chests.

Should be a bonus, not something which can give exclusive stuff not obtainable in other ways. And the sad thing is that speedrun gives actually THE BEST CHEST. Hell, again: this aint a platform game. Give us exclusive stuff for killing harder mobs or stuff like that, not for doing everything quick...

Like I said in the other thread...get rid of the speed run and instead just make the boss actually a challenge and/or the whole instance!!! I rather fight a really difficult boss then speed through easy mode to "save the world" with no sense of accomplishment because the instance was such a joke.

Speed-running takes coordination and commutation.
Which many groups can't seem to get together.
It seems those who complain the loudest about 5 chest runs are those who can't do it.

Yeah because I've ran plenty of speed runs and it doesn't take much team work to stack 5 of the same class/job and zerg the parts of the dungeon you actually take part in. The rest is a run past these mobs, sleep these mobs, then boss is a peice of cake.

Funny, the person I quoted has two full sets of darklight gear. Of course you wouldn't be upset with the luck you have, meanwhile the rest of us haven't even seen one peice.

Speeding through content the devs creates is stupid. Skipping mobs is dumb. Class/job stacking becoming more evident just to finish it the easiest.. I mean really? Why do people defend this flawed system?

The system supports luck not skill, that is the problem. I actually can't believe the person you quoted has two full set. I've done the run probably 200 times, 25 minutes or faster, with the same group of 8 and we haven't seen a body piece yet. Not to mention we've been fair with drops, and I only have one piece.

A LOT of people can and do do speed runs all the time complain about them. Don't for one moment pretend its a good game mechanic to hide the good gear behind.
