Would you change your healer weapon if you had the opportunity?

Another 'for fun' topic since I'm aware it will never happen.

• Are you happy with your main healers weapon of choice ( canes for WHM, books for SCH and globes for AST)? If you has the option to change it, what would you change to?

I ask only because I'm a WHM main and part of me wishes that canes isn't the weapon we got. Completely a personal preference.

What i would have loved to have instead, are bells.

Yeah, i would love to experiment with different weapons just to see what results they would bring.

As far as i know, FFXI has something like this and imagining having, for example, a scholar using something like throwing knives would definitely be a nice change of pace to a Job system that has no customisation at all.

In XI whm/sch primarily use staffs and clubs. There are other weapons they are able to use, but they tend not to get in melee range unless they are solo or trying to trigger a proc and even then other weapons are not often the best since your proficiency and damage are based off of a skill level, which whm has none outside of clubs, staffs and throwing weapons. So seeing a whm with a sword, dagger or polearm is something that just never happens because even if they could hit an enemy, it would be like hitting it with a wet noodle.

There are bells in xi but those are the weapons of geomancer and not even the main hand weapon. It sits in the ranged slot and acts more like a focus.

SCH with a drawing tablet
AST with a fidget spinner

At least for the joke weapons. Real stuff though?
WHM = see Kabooa’s, or Prismatic Crystals.
SCH = Bamboo Scroll, or Commander’s Baton
AST = Floating Magic Papers (not talismans).

Especially on SCH’s, I imagine them being able to place multiple batons for different effects depending on the numbers or positions at certain interval.

The SCH weapon is one I find cool in concept, but man am I dissatisfied with the options we have in game.
I'd love to be able to replace it with anything else.
Or, as long as this thread is entertaining pipe dreams... I'd love it if the weapon was the fairy and pur attacks came from the fairy and each weapon we get is basically a glamour/enchantment for the fairy.

I personally preferred the wands for Black Mage and White Mage. Mostly because wands don't clip through your giant wizard hat.

Would have loved to stay on the wand train personally myself.
Prism stones would have been nice though they probaly would have had overlap with the red mage bauble thing

Some prayer beads might have been neat too. Or a totem of some kind (for any of the casters)

I'd like some more picks or ceremonial polearms for whm. More ornate things to counterbalance the abundance of poorly modelled sticks and sheperds crooks. Half the cast animations look like they're gonna clock someone round the head with them.

I would like it if we could choose. Even if the choices were purely cosmetic.

On the flipside, that white mages could once use wands and shields is probably part of why their staff stances and some animations can be a bit awkward...
