A Question of Motive: 2.55 Quest "The Parting Glass" [[SPOILERS]]

I always wondered, was Momodi in on Lolorito's twisted plot to "save" the Sultana? Did she set us up for the betrayal, hoping as Lolorito did that we would come quietly and wait for our names to be cleared? Or was she too a victim of machinations between the Syndicate which had her unwittingly put you before the firing squad? I honestly can't say for sure one way or another. What are your thoughts?

She's the one who passes along the information which leads you to the planted evidence (the poisoned vial), and she's the one who suggests you hold onto it "just in case" it turns out to be important. I love her, so I'm leaning toward the latter in that she too was a victim of machinations beyond her control, but it just seems a bit suspicious that she leads you to the one thing that ends up being the nail in your betrayed coffin.

The whole thing feels rather forced, rather like the Eden's Verse: Refulgence plot. "Oh, here's this extremely obvious bad idea, run with it because that's the plot!"

Do I think Momodi was part of the conspiracy? No, she was just an actor on the stage whose best intentions only ended up making things much worse.

(The whole "Ul'dahn Revolution" arc is just kind of a mess, especially the ending, as one would expect from filler whose only real purpose at the time was to stalling to get Heavensward written.)

I thought that entire tangent was about Alianne trying to warn you something was afoot only to be waylaid in the process. The vial was most likely the one that was switched, and Teledji just made use of it in the moment to advance his claims.

I remember watching the Heavensward cinematic and being hyped up for rallying a resistance and storming Ul'dah to take down Loloritto. He looked like he was being hyped up as the co-big bad of Heavensward who'd be sending ninjas after you. Would've been awesome.

I recall reading a while ago that Yugiri was supposed to be more involved in Heavensward, but had to have her role reduced due to her English voice actress's murder. Considering her main involvement was rescuing Raubahn, after which she drops out of the story almost entirely until 3.5, I wonder if that was part of what led to the Monetarist/Crystal Brave story being truncated. But that's pure speculation on my part.

As for Momodi, I believe she's just a victim of circumstance. If you didn't know about the poison beforehand, it would seem a fairly reasonable thing to hold onto something an ally dropped.

While I enjoy saying that all Lalafells are the spawn of Satan... I regrettably know that isn't the case. I highly doubt that Momodi was in on what the crystal braves were doing. Especially going back through it with my main with New Game +. She was just passing what she was told on. Nothing more nothing less
