    Steam files verification error

In the last 3 weeks i've had to re-install the game twice due to steam seemingly forgetting i already had the game installed. I've looked everywhere for answers but there's no surefire way to fix this issue.

Is the game installed on a secondary drive or partition, or on a removable drive?
    If so, see:
    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...8379-RYIP-2998

The games installed via Steam should be installed into the default location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common
If it is installed outside of this location, then Steam has a chance to 'forget' the game is installed.

FF is installed on my SSD which isn't my "Main" drive so i guess that's the issue! It's just weird that this issue has only happened recently whereas before it's run just fine on my secondary drive for months on end.
    Thanks for the help Kirika!

Are you actually trying to use Steam's "Verify files" feature? I'm afraid you can't do that because the game doesn't update with Steam, hence it will force you to redownload the whole game, like you're experiencing. Basically you can't use that feature for this game, unless you actually want to reinstall it.
