Please add an emote spam filter.

Not the point of the thread. It doesn't matter what way you spam your emotes. The problem are the people who refuse to turn their text off and spam the chat log. I really wish I took screenshots of the event that finally made me make this thread... I'm not exaggerating that they got minimum a hundred emotes off within a few minutes, as there were several of them. The point is their spam, not the way they spammed.

They can connect all they want, buddy, but not like this. The reason I made this thread was because I, too, was trying to talk to people, and it all disappeared because of their emote spam. Are they more important than my friends for some reason? I know this isn't what you were getting at, but it's still a ridiculous thing to point out. It has nothing to do with the thread.

I blist ppl who spam emotes, promote their "fun social cafe" (which are usually brothels from what I have read) and talk in /say. You literally emote or /say more than 3 times in a row and I will right click and blist you. To me it's rude outside of rp areas/servers. But I am also the type who shuts down global chat in games who have it as well since it's usually just atrocious lol

So yeah we could totally use this, or add the ability to blist in instances cause there are times where the same person will shoot off 10+ emotes before the entry gate even goes down.

I think that is the solution though. Chat spam is against policy and if someone is doing excessive emotes, you report/blacklist and move on.

What you're asking is some kind of code to be implemented that measures how often each and every player sends something (emote/text/shout/whatever) to the chat system to be displayed. You're also asking it to police some limit of text inputs over some period of time. (eg. how often and how many times can I throw a snowball in succession? 1 per 10 seconds? What if I'm having a legit snowball fight with my friends in the middle of the wilderness with nobody around? Does this only police city areas?)

Even more server processing if it needs to discern if the messages are identical (same emote over and over) or just a lot of chat. Individually this isn't huge, but when we're talking every single player it's asking a lot of the server.

Not really, the solution already exists. Have two chat tabs, one as normal and one with emotes disabled.

They’ll resolve your sensitivity to chat spam without requiring additional features that should be resolved with tab filters anyway.

It's already built into the game. vs asking please add maybe look for it or ask if it is there.

System configuration > audio > Player effects volume > other PCs. turn it to zero.
