Southern Front Problems

Not sure what time you tried but I’ve been going in lately and on my server it’s generally full enough - we usually get full groups for CE and fates die quickly and cluster farms are up. There’s talk in about etc. But I have noticed some things.

1) for some reason the instance seems to die, no one new can join in and I ended up literally on my own. But when I went out and came back in full group again.

2) it does seem to die around midnight, but it’s Christmas time and this isn’t really 3am farming stuff.

3) I got my 20/20/20 just fine in bozja and they should have stuck to this to help keep the instance alive. Because people will always do the fastest most simplest route in this case HW fates.

4) vets won’t help queue for castrum and we always fall a few people short of what we need. I guess there’s little incentive for them and they can lose xp, although it’s a bit frustrating when they lecture us on how we only need 16 people when most of them were probably carried through it with a big group in launch. At minimum they shouldn’t lose xp for helping us, when they’re probably in bozja farming xp. Also again the bozja coins are available to those who completed castrum once through other methods, which much like the 20/20/20 is unnecessary and doesn’t encourage them to run castrum.

I don’t think Bozja is dead, lots of people still doing the fates and levelling in there. But I question putting another 48 man instance when the first one already died in a few months.

I don't get why it's HW area's also like... HW had its use of being a relic area with HW, why not stormblood since the only relic area was eureka idk I just find it odd that put them in HW again.

The popular speculation is because Heavensward is now part of the free trial, they wanna funnel more people back to those areas to help them be more regularly populated.

This is an easy answer. The free trial.

Free trial goes up to lvl 60 now. The FFXIV Developers want that content to seem "alive", so the put the most efficient way to get the relic there.

HW open world content and lvl 60 dungeons, and the leveling dungeon for a daily bitter memory

The fact they did it without outright admitting it chafes me a bit. It's blatantly obvious.

So... you would have wanted them to design new Fates for the Heavensward areas?
I'm not sure I'm following the alternative path you're proposing.

And if so, what alternate paths to getting the relic do you think would have been more appropriate?

Level 80 content, for our level 80 relic...



We shouldn't be going to HW for our ShB relic.. Deceptus already said it best:

There's a segment of the population who are getting tired of SE trying to revitalize old content by putting the relic or anything else in there (crafting is another)

Embrace the new content, design for it. Not the content that is now 4 years old.

We don't want to go to Heavensward at all for it. Doing Borzja is all but outright discouraged right now. All for faux game activity.

Do you think they could have put them in ShB Fates instead? Or are people as burned out on Fate grinding? Could it be tied to duty completion like the Bitter Memories are? Or is that tired too? Could they have them hidden behind level 80 trials instead? If you'd like to see something wholly new as the alternative non-Bozja way of attaining the relic, what do you think it'd have to be like to be successful?

To start, they could make Borzja more rewarding. Despite all I have said, there is some good content in Borzja. The Critical Engagements are a nice feature (though, I disagree with players being locked out), a feature I wouldn't mind being seen in other areas of the game. Castrum is a decent raid, and nobody wants to do it. Make people want to do it.

Sure, why not put them in ShB FATEs instead? I'd rather farm ShB fates than HW FATEs. Many may have not already completed their ShB FATE farming, and some active trains would be nice to see for people. At least we would have most of our kit. Yes, they could simply copy and paste HW FATEs/Duty completion to ShB FATEs/Duty completion, and I still think it would have been a better alternative. It would be successful regardless, just as people now are (were) running around in large numbers over in HW. Would it be well received, that's the question. A lot of factors would be at play at that point. The quality of Borzja, droprates, etc.

The guaranteed droprate over in HW is definitely way too high in comparison to Borzja. Borzja should be the main, encouraged, source, and HW should be the alternative. NOT the other way around.
