I'd be fine with a Necromancer caster dps. But I really, really despise the idea or a Healer Necromancer. Feels like the two concepts don't mix.

The existing Necromancer lore actually ties it more to WHM than anything else. It's essentially a perversion of white magic, and the Necromancers featured in the game so far tend to wield CNJ/WHM canes.
Edda was a WHM, Nybeth was a healer on his world, and then there's the Heroes Gauntlet boss.
To me that's more indication that it won't ever be a job, and the latest inclusion in Heroes Gauntlet is a kind of "this is what it could be in another world, but not this one"
