    BLM itemization in 5.4 is a problem.

    Hi! I've made a couple posts here before (usually referring to BLM issues specifically) and I'm here to do it again.

    Currently with the stats on the raid drop weapon (Edenmorn Rod) being crit/dh, it means the best weapon to use is in fact the tome weapon (Augmented Cryptlurker's Rod).

    This raises a few issues.
    Given that this is a patch cycle with an ultimate raid attached to it one of the largest issues is the 10 week requirement of tomestone capping required to achieve your best in slot. Most other jobs range from 4-6 weeks, which means when preparing for ultimates you are able to have 2-3 jobs ready in case of job buffs/nerfs or job suitability for the fight.

    Another large issue is the fact that as we scale to our best in slot gear, we are automatically at a disadvantage due to being forced into lower ilvl gear compared to the competing jobs in our raid slot - this being the weapon is particularly bad.

    I see every job in the game got it's best stats on the 535 weapon - crit/dh for dps and crit/det for healers and tanks, and truly feel this is an oversight when it comes to the BLM weapon as it is the only job which functions on a fundamentally different stat priority in the game.

    The last issue is walking into ultimate missing VIT stat which will not be tuned for.

    A reasonable way to fix this would be for the Edenmorn Rod stats to be changed to Spell Speed/DH (which has been the stats on every other raid weapon for BLM this expansion).

    You are incorrect. And then you double checked so you were incorrect twice.

    There are group comps where the crit weapon is marginally better, but it traditionally has not been close.

    It is a startling lack of consistency to have BLM be the only job that doesn't have optimal substats on their raid weapon, and it would be less egregious to change it after the fact than it was to change the weapon damage on the Diamond melee weapons in 3.4.

    As a BLM main I am factually forced to either go with a lower tier weapon or go crit/low sps. I personally had to choose crit because of a dancer in a static, along with that I had to change my opener and adjust for clunkiness of a low sps BLM that I havent played for more than a year. I hate it with passion and I dont see a reason to force black mages into the "crit meta" that seems prevalent. THe alternative tho seems even worse because at least with crit I can get lucky... This is not ideal and I fully support the change but HIGHLY doubt anything will be done until 6.0 rolls out. Actually maybe Ultimate weapon will be DH/sps but you have to get one first, so.

    First of all, congratulations on your world first!

    As for the real subject:

    In my opinion, itemization concerns all jobs.
    MCH wants to have as little SKS as possible, I believe DRG prefer have no SKS at all either. Some other jobs aren't bothered with it, you can't simply meld sks to reach your comfy sks tier.
    SKS is a bothersome stats, it directly impacts your gameplay and if you have SKS on a tome/raid ring you're forced to deal with it. It mainly comes from the fact that we have so little choice, always either raid or tomestome gear.

    IMO, allowing points in stats should make a come back but only for SKS, Crit and DH. SKS should be entirely gone from gear and players able to freely choose where to allow their points in order to reach their most wanted SKS tier or to go full SKS memes.

    As for the nerfs and such, I don't believe SQEX will nerf any jobs, your composition has always been the same DPS wise I believe. Tank and Healers share the same gear and SQEX doesn't like to nerf jobs, they didn't touched SMN at all before releasing TEA. Also don't believe that BLM will have any troubles finding a spot especially as Ultimate is more often toned on mechanics rather than DPS checks.
    UCOB world first had a DRK as well and there was no specific reason other than "I like DRK", if BLM are not the king of DPS, you can stick to BLM for the same reason!

    As for the weapon, I remember DRK's A12S weapon, not loved by a lot and never updated. There was no Ultimate back in HW, so it's a different situation.

    I would not be surprised if the current E12S scepter was tuned this way for a way to nerf BLM or make them try other builds.

    TL;DR:
    I don't think it's necessary to bring these changes, BLM is already doing very well since the beginning of the expansion and not ready to get down from its throne. But DPS won't matter until and during world race so it wouldn't hurt to make the change.
    Ultimate is far enough and I believe you'll have plenty times to gear up RDM or SMN if you won't have a DPS using one of these two jobs for the next update.
    But I agree that current stats and the poor choice of equipment is a problem, especially for rings and weapons.

    While I may have already bought my tome weapon, making the suggested change to the raid weapon would be great. It was really weird to find out that after 2 tiers of same stat setup to suddenly change on the last one.
