Servers for each Region

I am not into regional server/worlds. My linkshell has people in it from all around the globe and I love that! I love looking at ls chat and seeing ~french~ even though I barely understand any of it. We just had several people from Spain join also so that helps me with remembering the Spanish I learned in grade school I love hearing about their cultures as well.
If I was stuck playing only with NA.... I don't even want to have to imagine that. Plus my "prime" play time isn't standard "NA" times. Its more like EU. I doubt SE would ever force regional servers on us, but if they did that would probably be the day I quit.

I wouldn't be opposed to this idea:

easy on 2.0:

Step 1: Our actual servers stay as International Servers.
Step 2: Open 3 new servers per region.
Step 3: Allow people to transfer to new regional servers.
Step 4: Free access for people to choose between go an international server (old ones) or to go regional servers (new ones)

People who want to play with international friends will be happy with our actual servers, and people who want regional servers will be happy too.

If everyone you play with is in the same region, it'll be the same problem in you have segregated servers.

We are not competing for anything. This is not XI, there is no claim wars and hopefully will never be.

Surely you mean Square-Enix, Soft hasn't been around since 2001. :P

Anyway I think we should keep the servers mixed, it adds more life into it, Regional servers will be a waste of resources during downtime (for example a EU server between 1am - 9am) + I like playing with other players I learned a lot about Japanese through FFXI and met some nice JP friends.

If that is the plan and if 2.0 is popular enough to draw a lot of new players, then my guess is the regional servers will probably be the most populated and down the road that might force them to make it all regional...

Alot of people waiting on the PS3 release played FFXI and don't have a PC to play FFXIV on, these people probably have friends currently playing so they will go where thier friends are, I for one will help my friends when they come, buying some gear, giving them some gil to start off etc so even my server will be beginner friendly for my friends.

I support regional servers.
I support server locations being placed specifically in the region you live in. Aka: Servers in USA/JP/EU not just in JP.
I support international servers for those that want to play on them.
I support language based servers.

I want to play on a server located in the United States for a few reasons. First, I want to play with people who play on my primary time zone, or the closest ones to it. It makes it easier to schedule raids, events, etc. Second, I want to play with people who speak my primary language. This doesn't make me racist, it simply means I don't speak French, or Japanese, or German. This means I cannot communicate with those people; the auto translate is not a sufficient device to communicate on a fast paced basis. Third, I want my latency to be lowered as best as possible. SE has offices in several places in the United States, I don't see why these places cannot house the servers.

Every other major MMO has regional servers, I fail to see why SE can't accomplish that as well.

In summary, please have a variety of servers both regional and international so players can choose their desired servers at 2.0.
