So recently we had 2 incidents of FC chest thefts that happened on 2 consecutive days. It was the same person but on his alts. He asked to join the fc and we accepted his request, he left as soon as he joined and we found out that he stole everything he could from the FC chest. Slots 1 and 2 were free for all because we hoped that the items there would help new adventurers with their journey. However this troll had to rob us not just once but twice. Yes, it was our fault that they had perms to those slots but an action such as this that destroys the ffxiv community's trust in one another must be punishable. Any decent human being will not steal from other people.
Mind you, this person not only did this to our FC but to a lot of other FCs as well and he is still roaming around scamming people. If this is not bannable to you guys then I don't even know what is. This guy should be banned, suspended, or at the very least not allowed to join any other FC both on his main character and on his alts. It is infuriating to see how indifferent and irresponsible SE is towards issues like this. PEOPLE MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR.

People like these ruin the game's experience for other players and because of this incident, I feel so traumatized and it completely ruined my trust towards other people. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I might stop playing ffxiv after this incident especially if SE does not do anything about it because it really ruins the whole experience. I believe I am speaking for the others as well when I say that we want to hold these trolls and disgusting people accountable for their bad behavior. We do not need this kind of toxicity in our community. I can list down a lot of other toxic or bad behaviors in game that I myself experienced that the GM don't act on that has caused tons of players to leave the game.

This is a crappy situation and it's unfortunate that it's happened to your FC.

Considering how often this sort of thing happens, it seems that SE's stance on the matter is that FCs should be responsible for managing their own members and assets. I personally don't like it, but they at least have given us the tools to do so.

What I've done in past FCs is set permissions up so that the 'new member rank' has essentially zero access to anything that could be damaging like rank permissions, FC chest, gardening, furnishings, and the workshop. Each new member is then picked up by an established FC member as a sponsor who is responsible for getting the new member up to speed on FC rules and helping them out with stuff - this sponsor would be the one who would retrieve newbie goodies from the FC chest for their initiate during this initial period as well.

After a minimum of a few weeks or so, the sponsor could then petition the FC leadership to advance the new member to a new rank with more access perks, and the FC leadership makes the final call as to if such access is granted and when.

Setting things up this way establishes several layers of protection against people who raid FCs for loot:

1. A 'trial period' before someone gets access to perks means a troll has to park a character in place for a certain period of time before they can do anything damaging, reducing the amount of raiding resources a troll can utilize during a given time period.
2. A membership sponsor prevents a complete draining of FC assets by a raider while still allowing access to said assets for legitimate new members in need.
3. Since the sponsor is responsible for putting their initiate up for advancement to a rank with access perks, it incentivizes the sponsor to be sure the initiate is legit or else risk their own standing/credibility in the FC.
4. And lastly, since it's ultimately the FC leadership who makes the decision on giving rank perks to a trial member, it means the FC leadership is responsible for keeping their companies in order.

From one perspective, it does feel that this makes things more restrictive and makes more work for FCs, but these are the tools we have been given to protect ourselves from humans who lack decency which unfortunately are far more prevalent than any of us would like. From another perspective however this protects against FC raiders, establishes closer ties between FC members, and gets the leadership involved with knowing about each and all of their members.

You could even HR spin it in any number of ways to make it seem less restrictive. Call it a "Master & Apprentice" period. Pair up "Sempais and Kouhais". Establish it as a "Buddy System". Do whatever you gotta do to protect your goodies and have only the best people around you, because SE won't do it for us.

Yea, our FC leader already fixed the rankings however we overlooked that default rank new members get that's why that sick freak was able to get stuff from our chest for the 2nd time. Even though we have the resources to prevent this, I think they should still punish trolls like this bc i think this can be considered as "obstructive gameplay" seeing as how they can ruin the experience for people.

Furthermore, can't this be considered harrassment? I posted on the ffxiv europe discord about this guy hoping that nobody would fall prey to this again. Then a person messaged me about this acting as if he was empathizing with us. So a few mins later that person sent an application in game saying that he thought we were nice people and would like to join our fc so i accepted the application. Turns out it was the same guy on his alt who came back just to troll us. So yep, this was the oversight that happened. It has caused a lot of distress for our FC members and it's really infuriating.

Too bad you can't set different permissions to each page of the FC chest like you can for the items vs the gil in the chest.
