Thread: 2.0 New Chat Channels request

Would love to see the following chat channels adding into the game. All of these could of course be turned off by the player.

1. World - for the whole server
2. City - The current city you are located in.
3. Trade - The idea would be for users looking for repairs/buy/sell/trade etc - I think this would be for the city you are currently in as well, but a way to break it out from the general city chat.

Please feel free to add your own ideas.

I agree with Jinko here; I've never understood the point of trade chat.

I agree with world/city chat, but I have a feeling that SE would have a hard time justifying it. They tend to try to make all in-game system have a reason or purpose within the game world, but magically being able to talk to everyone anywhere seems like it wouldn't fit.

Understandable, but when you factor in Linkshells and the atherites they could easily open it up that way. As for the idea of too much spam, it would be possible to turn off this Chanels so you don't see them, but I get your point. Still asking for these still,

I'm entirely against World chat. But if they really HAVE to put that in, they should limit it to 1 message every 3 minute per character MAX. I don't want people chit-chatting, and I don't want people spamming world-wide. This should really be reserved for announcements... and even so. Imagine how game-breaking it would be if special timed events were announced like that:

Ilike Tospoil: Urianger POP @ Black Shroud Cave (xx,yy)! Hurry come quick!

Entire server then procedes to converge at (xx,yy), server crashes, event is ruined

We already have to deal with these idiots shouting in cities. PLEASE don't give them a world-wide tribune, for god's sake.
