Making People Wait Months To Purchase EX Mounts Is Silly

Mount drops are intended to be rare, I get that. But at the same time, people who put in the grind should be able to get their reward in a timely manner.

Some people luck out and get their mount on their first go, or when they see their first drop. Others collect their 99 tokens and wait...

and wait...
and wait some more.

Their reward for their grind is to wait.

Then you have people who keep going. They don't want to wait and keep going. Again, it's a slap in the face to run the EX trial hundreds of times only to lose the mount over and over again and not be able buy it for months and months.

I get that the content needs to be kept relevant, but the length of time is really silly. At most people should be able to buy the ex mounts at the x.x5 patch after it's released.

This needs to change. Reward the grind. Don't have players sit and wait for months and months as their reward.

I agree . . . but I also appreciate that when the 99 totem whistle or horn or whatever is patched in there is a renewed wave of people running that content, without which, it can be hard to get in on these raids if you weren't able to run them when they were first patched in.
Not that there isn't a healthy middle ground, or something else they could patch in later to provide that same resurgence.

Agreed. It actively discourages you from farming until the trial gains Echo and the 99 token exchange. Why risk having to spend 200 attempts on the same trial on hard mode when you can wait a few months and have echo, better gear, increased droprate and a token trade if you get unlucky?

As I've said before, if you farmed EX as current content 99 times, you deserve the mount.

To be fair, the Echo, having better gear and increased droprate should result in renewed interest from all the players who struggled while the trial was current.

This is why they delay being able to purchase mounts. They're banking on people doing exactly what you did: spamming it beyond the 99 times, thus keeping the content alive longer. If they let you purchase the mount from the onset, you'd have stopped at 99 and may never gone back.

After you get 99 totems you've guaranteed the mount, just wait for the whistle. No reason to run more after that point short of foolishness or impatience.

Which a lot of people are. Look at how I quoted. They ran it 340 additional times. Plenty of people do the same thing, hence why they wait.

My old FC leader on Tonberry ran Titania EX about 250 times despite getting the mount drop around the 120 mark.

You still keep the content fresh as drop rates are increased, and echo is added.

Making people wait 2 patches is just annoying. Especially as we appraoch the end of the expansion. Say you have your 99 totems. Guess what, you won't be able to go for that new shinny dragon when 5.5 launches. You get to wait for that too. And why? Randomness. It's not because you didn't put in the grind, it's because of pure randomness that you have to wait for that content.

Hell, let people buy it with 200 or even 300 totems at first. Just do something so people can earn it when they're being bombarded with terrible RNG luck. Bad enough these mounts have less than a 5% drop rate. I remember when Byakko came out. I did 99 runs, and I never even saw a mount drop.

If the want to keep it rare, they should never increase the droprates - rather lower em after the new tome gear is out. I did some more then 100x as I didnt even get all the weapons i needed... the first 10-15 sometimes are a bit.. sloppy, after 20 its really fun, 30-40 i totally dont mind but after 50 its just gettin annoying....


Im not even salty but when having 15 kills i saw 2 mounts drop, rolled 91 and 94 and got beaten on both - by 3 ppl. Usually i roll a 10-20 and ppl get the mount with an f-ing 45... but ok, im not mad at any player, only at the stupid rng and my bad luck. Nut knowing how long i gotta wait - especially now. And i know on 5.5 i wont get the mount either, or at least need 50+ runs so no special mount for me for ages... which kinda ruins it.


This time it was the worst... i got titanias dragon on 70 kills, but all others i had to buy... and i saw many drop. It just takes the joy from em...

(random fun fact, on 99 emerald runs i never saw the nin knifes drop lol)



Id let ppl purchase the mount after 2 or 4 weeks... there is 0 reason besides forcefully keeping it alive to wait any longer.


...And also id reduce our dice to 24 or smt, theres no reason we got 70+ "dead" numbers...
