Red Mage Problem

A couple weeks ago I had a computer crash and lost everything. I'm back now been paying some new characters to get restarted.
I decided to make a L70 Red Mage. I bought the one at the store for $17.50 that's on sale. I'm level 70 but the only quests I can do are L15 and below. The book you get to read says:
Use to instantly level red mage to 70 and complete all job quests up through "With Heart and Steel." Cannot be used outside large settlements. Automatic logout will commence upon usage.
I got all the spells and armor but that's it, no mounts, no retainer, no "company you keep" nothing.
Anybody have any idea what happened?.

What you bought seems to be a level 70 job skip but this is not the same as Main Story Quest skip. If you wish to skip to level 70 MSQ then you also need to buy an MSQ skip or you'll have to do all the story quests starting from low level ones.

Yes, you can adventure as a level 70 red mage. If you wanted to skip msq to level 70 as well you need the job boost as well as the story skip.

Adding to the others, there's two of boost/skip.

1) Job boost - This is what you've bought. It has given you a level 70 red mage, and it has also completed all the red mage job quests (level 50-70) for you, but that's it.
2) Story skip - Skips the story to either the start of Heavensward (quests start at 50), Stormblood (quests start at 60) or Shadowbringers (quests start at 70), depending on which one you purchase.

Job quests are separate to story quests.

So what you have got is a level 70 red mage which is capable of doing the story still, you're just drastically over levelled for it is all.

Exactly, it says "all JOB quests". Job quests are basically necessary side quests that allow you to learn more skills and learn more about your job. And those quests were skipped when you used the boost.
Main Story Quests are exactly what their name is - main quests of the game. Those can only be skipped by using an MSQ skip which is not the same as lvl 70 job boost.
