Goddamn though, that's literally like having 2 and a half jobs. How did you hold up through all that?
Also, R.I.P. anyone not in your guild lol.

But damn, if this game is that much of a time sink, I can see why they were interested in making a version you could play portably.
I wonder if there's not some way they could salvage this project.
I had many a night where I set my alarm for 2AM to kill a world boss, if it did not spawn went to sleep and set it for 2:30, then 3:00 as so on until it spawned. Spawns could happen every 30mins, 21-24 hrs from the time of the world bosses last death.

Also took my laptop to college with me. I sat in the back of class for a reason lol. Was me playing FFXI and several ppl playing wow. Think the sleep deprivation and running a guild back then is part of the reason I had grey hair at 24, and a whole lot now. I was defiantly "Neck Bearding" it in college. Woke up on weekends at 8am to play... ate microwave meals at the computer, had the whole mini fridge next to me (with the microwave on top of it), and went to sleep at midnight. Gogo living on scholarships and government grants.

As for the guild. FFXI rewarded guild building and organization. All top guilds had websites, voice chat, detailed guild banks, lotting systems, and well defined organizational structure in guild management. It was easy to see the difference between a casual and endgame guild or a guild with good guild management vs bad. I really miss the days of it honestly. It was sorta like a 2nd job but I loved it... I even made weekly operation reports and monthly financial statements showing goals, targets, where all the money went, and future spending projects. Most servers had 4-6 guilds that I would call top tier endgame focused that did this. Then you had 100s of casual, semi casual, and specific event focused guilds.I really wish SE would of gave guilds a real purpose in ffxiv outside a glorified chat channel and RP. Guilds are one of the biggest weaknesses in ffxiv currently.

All this is why a mobile version would have the assets from FFXI but it would not be FFXI, it is impossible to make ffxi on mobile due the platform limitations and playerbase expectations on the platform. Mobile games are all about quick burst of play, easy in and out, quick rewards, and simplicity. It is as far away from what ffxi was as you can get.

I think if they want to make a mobile ff game. It should be its own thing specifically designed to work with the platform. I honestly think it could work, but they should NOT adapt any mmo to mobile. The genre and platform do not mix at all. Even current "Mobile MMOS" are not really mmos when you look at what a mmos had traditionally include and focus on. A solid CO-OP FF mobile game I could see making big bucks and being a fun solid gaming experience.
