Collegiate Attire & why not high knee socks?

First of all I want to say, this is cool and I am sure many people love this new glam in the mogstation. Second of all I am tired of seeing these glams that only have 3 pieces being the same price as the more detailed outfits that has all 5 pieces.

But I've been wondering for a long time now why do we only get these shoes with the tiny socks? We already have plenty in the game and now this one gets them too? I for one would like to use a skirt with diff pair of long socks/stockings that are NOT attatched to the skirt.

It is a very simple glamour, why do we not have them yet?

Totally guessing here, but it might be more work to make sure the socks actually disappear under certain (tighter) pants if they were to be attached to the shoes. Not to mention the amount of skirts/shorts + socks/stockings combinations we already have, if they added shoes with socks attached they'd have to try and make it look nice by layering them or have only one set show.

But that's just a guess.

I would guess it's to do with how the gear pieces combine with each other.

I've been observing and trying to work out the rules for how things go together (more looking at gloves than shoes, but I think they might work the same), and I think that ankle-length footwear has a piece of data on it saying whether they go over or under pants - but the behaviour of knee- or thigh-length footwear might only be determined by the pants.

If that's correct then if you tried to wear the knee-high socks with pants, they'd go over the pants, and maybe in that case they need to be thicker socks so the model pieces line up.

That's my guess, anyway.

If you wanted knee-high socks then they probably need to be modelled onto the legs of the skirt piece, and then people would probably be disappointed that it's not just a skirt without socks.

Oh yeah, those definitely need knee high socks. The bare legs are too much.

However, without knee high socks attached to the skirt, that skirt can now be used in combination with other glams a bit easier. Give or take, preference really.

Probably wouldn't be much of an issue if the top part of the sock is a bit bigger, or they added some kind of circlet?

That's the thing though, you'd probably need something like that wider cuff on the thigh, rather than tight-fitting socks like they can do if it's on the leg piece.

Other then the no socks I appreciate this glamour set for the fact both kinds are not genderlocked, something I was afraid of when I saw the top with the tie.
